i feel like i'm making out with a storm trooper every time i hold my G1. i bought a handful of stuff from the android market as soon as i got my G1. i need more though, so i started digging. turns out, there's a ton of stuff over on amazon (via private sellers/retailers).

this is the white case i just purchased. as you can see, the one in the pic on amazon has an "open" butt-piece - all of the buttons/trackball are exposed. in my pics though, the shell is clearly a different one - the butt-piece has "formed" spaces that snug right up to the buttons/trackball. this does NOT hinder button-molesting in any way, shape or form.

in addition to my phone looking like a sexy storm trooper, this case fits SUPER snug! i have the clear "shell" case from T-Mobile and that one sorta fits...like a baggy pair of jeans. the hand-feel of the G1 when i had that one vs. the hand-feel now, is night and day. the phone "feels" tighter (well, the case is tighter) and most importantly, i feel better inside. :)

i'm writing this seller on amazon directly so i can insure that the black and clear cases i'm about to order are the exact-same form factor as the white one in my pics.

thought i'd share 'cause this case is just haute, period. oh, and one more thing - i avoided the mobi case (thanks kommodore) because it covered the SD card slot. you can't see it too well in these pics, but this case does not cover the sd card slot - bonus!

p.s. i think the white case is toooootally F-in secksy compared to the swarovski crystals - no offense jessica. :D

Yes! it looks very storm trooper like, I'm sure all the Star Wars G1ners would love this case.

But it would'nt look good on the Bronze G1

Smalls: wide open on the screen "frame," but i already have the screen protectors from the android store. i LOVE the way they feel under my thumb.

cash_brown: i dunno, it's pretty tight. i had the "shell" from T-Mo prior to this and that sat a little loose on the G1. this case is PERFECTLY tight, so much that the phone just feeeeels better now. :)

Raul69: if i drop the phone, the phone will be dropped. the distance that's going to break the case of this phone is going to have significant impact to the device and its internals, so i'm not worried about that. just because you wrap a person in rubber vs. plastic, doesn't mean they're going to survive when you push them out of a plane. :D

kaysesoze: there's a black, clear and pink equivilant of this case. i'll be snagging another white one and one of each - black and clear. yes, i'm a dork.

JohnnyLicious: i see what you're sayin', but it really isn't bulky at all. i actually prefer the feel of the phone in this case vs. standard issue. especially compared to the T-Mo case, this one is toight.

That case makes the buttons too recessed. They're already had enough to press as is.

This shell (or ones very similar) have been out for some time. early posts here stated that this shell is considered ugly due to size and the heart shape created by the speaker and camera.

I'm really surprised that people think its hot now, I thought the new hotness was gel skins and bodyglove style shells.

I've got the BodyGlove case, and while I like it, the G1 is noticably lighter and smaller, when I take the case off.

I've now ordered the Seidio case, which looks to add a minimal amount to the size, while still giving the G1 some protection.

Also has the "soft touch" finish, which I prefer.

Guess we'll see if I'm happy with this one.
