frustration for the last hour. tried to log into androidcommunity.com from my g1.
- did not see a link to get to site that worked better on mobile phone so i was stuck scrolling through the whole site which is fine on a laptop, but cumbersome on my g1.
- had problems logging in. may have not been so bad if i did not have to scroll and scroll to find out that my login failed each time and why.
- the site was quite slow on my g1. doesn't seem so slow on my laptop.
- tried to find a place to post this that made sense, but no group did. so first i tried the Android Discussions forum but was denied for an unknown reason, looks like i don't have permissions which wouldn't be so frustrating if it was the obvious reason, but the reason is not obvious.
conclusion: i was never able to get in on my g1. i'll try again later, but it seems that the site should have an obvious way to view it on the g1 with a mobile version of the site or something. and it would help to have a forum that was just for this type of feedback. but that was not obvious either. i like obvious stuff. this site updates forum doesn't seem right, but none of the other ones did either.

The site does have a mobile view scroll to the bottom of the page.
I've occasionally experienced some difficulties, with the site, but nothing as extreme as what you said. You may want to clear cache and history on the browser and give it another shot. Plus I've never experienced any problems logging in so I'm not sure what that's about.
edit: anytime I've had a site question i've put it here also with the same reasoning you used, I'll pass along the need for clarification

found the link to the mobile site. it wasn't obvious, i figured it would be in the rt. corner, not in the middle which it seemed. checking out the mobile site now.
one other comment on this site (from my laptop, not my g1). when i type into the search box, but click out and then click back in, any text entered is erased. seems very counterproductive. i have to start over new each time i want to change something about my search entry. and adds to my frustration.
thanks for the info on the mobile site!

I don't have problems browsing this forum on my G1.
As for the mobile version, they should add it...
What?
They do have the mobile version?
I could not find the link for it at all. I even went to the PC and I still can not find it.
I wish I knew that when I had my Blackberry.

When you're on the main screen, you will need to go to the bottom middle and click on Mobile Version. I'm sure they won't have that for PC Version.

I believe that you can set this link as a bookmark to take you right into the mobile version.

ok, i tired again to go to the androidommunity.com mobile site on my g1 last night. i had to reset my password, so i went through that process which seemed fine.
when i entered my user name and password it brought me to a blank page. i tired reloading it but no luck.
so i tried it again this morning and had the same problem. i tried a new browser window. same, the page was blank. it said on the title line that it was android community but there was no content.
i will keep trying, but so far i can not access the androidcommunity while logged in. i am using the built in browser.

just tried again. i did a search in google for android community. the page comes up along with several links under it. i click on the first one which is "Discussion forums". When that page loads, i click on the Mobile Version link at the bottom of the page. It takes me to http://www.androidcommunity.com/forums/index.php. i go to the bottom of the page and click again on the Mobile Version link. i am taken to a blank page again.

I get the blank page too, only when trying in mobile view. I've never had an issue with normal view at all.

That is very strange that you are having these problems. When I originally went to www.androidcommunity.com it came up in the regular version. I then scrolled down and changed my default view to mobile. Next, I made a shortcut to that page and have never had any problems viewing it. I just checked now and it is still working perfectly.

i tried it again. i was able to log into the regular site. then after i did that i clicked on the mobile link. it sent me back to the same page (which it did before). i clicked on the mobile link again. now i have a blank page.
i logged out. clicked on mobie. sent me to same page. clicked on mobile again. blank. i feel like i was able to see it before but i don't remember. but i can't see the mobile site at all now. weird.

I'm going to try that. I noticed there was mobile view but i've never did it.
I know sometimes AC loads a little slow so i'll probably end up doing that.
