(i've already used the search button and messaged someone and still havent had this answered)

Hi,

My brother is looking to use a unlocked G1 on AT&T. Right now he currently has a blackberry curve which obviously means he has a blackberry plan. My question is, if he were to get a G1 what plan would he need to get? (unless the blackberry plan will work, which i doubt)

Thanks!

You know the 3G on AT&T is not 2100mhz, as it is on the G1? In other words, it won't work on their 3G. (Ironically, because the iPhone has the 1900mhz for AT&T and 2100mhz for the rest of planet earth, it is compatible with TMo also.)

Dont bother with the g1 bc to many problems plus do u want a phone that creaks like a old door? The new sexy palm pre comes out 2/15 and that might be the next best thing besides a iphone. im not a g1 hater but its pissing me off more then any phone i ever owned.

I would think any of the data plans would work in that situation, I know some people in here have successfully moved over to at&t.

from what i see on there, as long as i have a data plan on AT&T we'll be set.. Can anyone who is currently using a G1 on AT&T verify this for sure?

hey!

my brother finally got an unlocked G1 and right now we just called to switch the plan on his AT&T account from the blackberry plan to a PDA personal and the lady asked us if the phone is a AT&T phone, me not knowing if i could just say no its an unlocked G1, i said its a blackjack I.

So she was going to switch it but then said since we've never had a phone on the account that used the PDA personal plan she needs the API or something like that on the "blackjack I"

i dont have a blackjack lol or any other windows mobile phone for at&t.. so could i just tell them its an unlocked G1? Or should i borrow my girlfriends old blackjack and give her the needed info and just put the sim card in the G1 after? haha

Any suggestions?

Hmm, that's weird.
I have AT&T and already had the unlimited data/pda plan since I originally had the Tilt. I just put my SIM into the G1 (after unlocking it and changing the settings for data & etc) and was good to go. Never had to call them for anything. I think they just ask for your phone model to keep it current with your online profile -- like when you pay your bill or view it, there's like a little phone icon somewhere in case you need support on that phone. But I'm sure there are other reasons but like I said, I never had to call. Try it out and see if your data does work on the g1.

There shouldn't be a problem using another carriers phone on another network. It is legal and you shouldn't have a problem getting the data plan on the G1. Give them a call, tell them you have the G1 and you want the data plan on it, and it should work.
