Very interesting. I may have to make a phone call and see if it applies to G1's

I would sign up for that even if it means extending my contract for a year. I have already been with T-Mobile for 8 years.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - T-Mobile USA, the No. 4 U.S. mobile phone service, said on Wednesday it is offering a $50 per month service plan to long-time customers in San Francisco, in the latest sign that U.S. operators may be facing a price war.

Location: Atlanta GA

I'm sure it'll work out great for you.

I will let you read it and you tell me if it is really worth it.

Terrible! The majority of my calls would be outside of my region. How is that unlimited?

I would definitely get this....

Guys it's not available on the website yet. The picture posted is for a REGIONAL plan, not the rumored unlimited nationwide plan.

Only long-time customers in the SanFran area are eligible for the test-run of this new plan. If all goes well, nationwide launch on March 1st.

Looks like it's only a regional plan for now. No info on national or national family plans yet.

A T-Mobile USA representative said the plan would only be available to customers who have used its service for 22 months or more and that as the company has "additional details regarding a national plan it would provide" them.

I stand corrected. After logging into My T-mo (I'm from SF, CA) I get the following offer:

I currently have 2 G1's and one non-pda phone on my acct. sharing the 2000 min family plan with the extra unlimited text/messaging pkg on 3rd phone for 216/month

I did the math and here is what I come up with

Unlimited calling for the first two lines 90.00
data plan for two G1's 70.00
unlimited messaging for my 3rd line 5.00
unlimited calling for 3rd line 40.00

total of 205.00 + tax

Not really much of a savings seen here..

Maybe they're doing this because Tmobile sucks in SF.

I went there last year and had trouble getting a signal in most places. That's an AT&T town.

yeah I think the cost savings is good if you only ever plan on having 2 lines. Additional lines at $40 vs. $10 is huge.

I just received an email from T-Mobile:

Unlimited Loyalty Plan — just for you. It's an exclusive unlimited nationwide voice plan for our most loyal customers. It costs only $49.99 a month. So you'll know what your calling costs will be each month. And there's no additional commitment required.

You could add up to 4 additional lines for just $39.99 each, plus taxes. You could get a $135 credit for any non T-Mobile® customer, like a spouse or a roommate, who switches their number to your plan. It's our way of saying, "You're awesome."
But hurry. This exclusive, limited time opportunity won't last long.

You should re-evaluate your plan here, and change accordingly:

Unlimited calling for three lines: $129.97
Unlimited Messaging for Families: $19.99
Unlimited Data for T-Mobile G1 x2: $50

Total: $199.96 + tax

I called tmobile to get a corporate discount thru my work, 15 percent off. And this lady was like matthew we here at tmobile see u have been a very good customer for over 6 years, we would like to offer you the unlimited talk plan which is normally 99.99 for only 49.99 . So I said sweet hook me up.

I was paying 39.99 + 6.99 for mobile, so for a few bucks extra I got the hook up. Been a customer 6+ years.
I live in seattle,wa market at the moment

makmma

just unlimited VOICE minutes for 49.99

This would make my bill go up to $154.96 up from $94.98.

I have MyFaves on three lines and 1000 shared minutes. If I just had one line it'd be a great deal though, but $39.99 for line instead of $10 sucks.

Previously:

Me: $99.99/mo. unlimited voice + text
Wife: $39.99/mo. 1500 whenever minutes + $24.99/mo. G1

Total: $164.97

Now:

$89.99/mo. Both unlimited voice
$24.99/mo. G1

Total: $114.98

Savings: $49.99/mo.
Gained: Unlimited minutes for Wife (This phone has replaced our home phone, so minutes are important.)
Lost: Unlimited texting for me. (I don't use texting, much. I can add 400 for $4.99, if needed.)

Kept 2 $19.99 KidConnect plans on a separate account. No change there. (T-Mobile will not allow them on the same account without converting them to unlimited.)

Now, compare my wife's plan to ATT iPhone with Unlimited service:

ATT iPhone: $134.99
T-Mobile G1: $64.98
Difference: $70.01, but the T-Mobile plan gives you 200 more text messages and includes picture messaging!

Thanks, T-Mobile!
