aHome dramatically improves the standard Gphone user interface as you expect most!
Features:
· Supports up to 10 screens
· aHome iPhone Theme is in the Market now
· Changeable themes (currently iphone theme only)
· New widgets: Weather and Digital clock (Drag + Delete also)
· 4 dock icon (which will appear on every screen just like the iPhone)
· App can be set as DEFAULT home screen when pressing the home button
· Auto-rotate without the need for root access! (Desktop (http://androidcommunity.com/forums/) only)

Review:
This is the "Lite" version aka Free version which is pretty good, haven't found too many bugs yet if i do i will post, but overall i like having the screen and the 4 dock icon to appear on every screen, and the functionality of having all your apps on your home screen and allowed up to 10 screens is pretty neat, The fact that this looks EXACTLY like the iphone isn't gonna thrill android fans about the whole iphone look.
Pros:
The widgets, is a +1 in my book, having the weather widget on my desktop its definitely a plus, Also the devs will be releasing the source code for other devs to create other widgets for this wonderful amazing app.
Themes: This is currently running on the iPhone them, but the dev says there will be more themes available, so what does that mean? We can all have THEMES finally, without having to ROOT our phone isn't that great. :]
Cons:
The whole iphone look theme.
Can't change icons for each of the app currently I don't think so.
No app tab, so you can quickly access your app you want instead of scrolling thru 5-10 screens of apps -1 ehhh :[

Dang. I purchased dxTop and now this. It's going to be hard to know which to stick with. And we may have a divide in widget development now,

It depends. I never wanted an iphone. The multi screen thing is just the app drawer turned into to multiple screens. Dxtop is way better. If you always wanted an iphone, then get this app. If always wanted a gphone, get dxtop. To each their own.

Well, I tried aHome and I don't like it. All you icons are on the desktop with no order at all. Just all mixed up. Very annoying. Maybe it was alphabetical but they need to sort by type, that's the only usefull way.

yea this app is not bad at all, i always want to get rip off that tab bar so hehe :P but what im saying is they did get rip off the tab bar. But they u shud leave the pull up still.
Like if u hold ur finger from the bottom up (pulling up the tab), it still going up ^^ it just u wont see the tab bar anymore. that will be perfect.
And the suck thing is Bettercut doesnt work with this

Pro: weather and time +1 for both
Con: its not as smooth as the native home screen, I don't really need/want every app on my home screen or to make folders and short cuts. the background doesn't slide with your screens, screens only go one direction.
what i'd like to see?
the ability to set how many home screens you want manually
screens to be blank, allowing you to add shortcuts manually, instead of just throwing all of your apps out there automatically.
and more widgets.
other than that, sweet idea, i like it..
but then again, i don't use up the space given on the native home screen

FYI - if you want to delete an icon or widget you do not drag it to the delete icon you tap on delete

Quick question...I downloaded it for a second and was playing...but,
If you delete an icon from your desktop...how do you get it back at a later point...since bettercut does not work
...that was the only possible problem I found, other than the fact that it is just a bit too iphone-ish

Nevermind...I found it.
Long press on a blank area of any desktop...Applications
I like this app. Since I'm not an iphone hater, I think it's cool to have an iphone effect on my g1 (that I love, by the way). Didn't see much difference in the paid version, so I'll rock with this one for awhile. I love how I can rename the folders, too.

I've been using the aHome app for about 8 hours already and it works smooth. The only things i've noticed bad about it was it doesnt seem to show Bettercut shortcuts and I would like to have the option to push the home buttom and have it go to the main screen (having to scrol 3-6 screens to get something I need fast sucks).
But overall I like it a lot, more than the dxtop.

And we may have a divide in widget development now,
Thats the same thing I was thinking, I would hate to be going through the market and seeing that dxtop has some badass widgets.

Well I downloaded the Lite to sort of test drive it and thought it was pretty neat so I went ahead and paid for the app since it was only 2.99.
The ONLY reason I ended up uninstalling it was because of the compatibility issues with Better Cut which is one of my favorite applications and because if you try to use the "Rename" feature with aHome the name changes you make to any of your Application Shortcuts will revert back to the original name after a Powercycle which was the HUGE flaw with AnyCut that really annoyed me as I like to do a powercycle about once a day and I hate having to go through and rename all my applications everyday!
If the developers fix those issues it would practically be perfect.
I like the ability to grab a shortcut and drag it on to the other screens though which is something you can't do with the normal G1 Homescreen.

So far so good, here what i found out after using Ahome for a day.
Pros:
- I dont know about u know, but it FREE, better than Dxtop :D
- Up to 10 Screen!
- There is a dock for 4 app, it always on in everyscreen.
- Enable/Disable the dock manually
- New Widget (weather and digital clock)
- Third party widget
- Able change icon app without root :D
Cons:
- Weather Widget "failled to get weather info" sometimes
- Forces close sometimes
- Doesnt work with bettercut T_T
- All app will out all screen, nomore tab bar
- Unable to change theme color of the Widget (i hate that baby blue!)

Well seriously, i think here is the perfect app for homescreen :
- 4 screen, diamond shape ( similar to Dxtop )
- No tab bar, but u still can go to tab bar by the original way (pull up from the bottom) u just dont see the bar thingy anymore.
- Both widget from ahome + dxtop put together and have to be free
- "iphone style" dock, for 4 app (similar to ahome)
- Work with bettercut!
If there is the app like this, i willing to pay up to 15$ for it http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif for real even that is alot money for me lol

I recently got the app and when I pressed home it came up with the options of default. I kept it on the normal setting and it said how to change the default but i didn't read it properly. Could anyone help me on how to do this?
Thanks

I like the bigger desktop.
I like the dock.
I miss the drawer. There are some apps i just need occasionally.
I like that there are widgets available, but worry that androids slowness to release the widget SDK is driving people to these other desktops which may eventually lead to a 3 way widget diverge when the android widget SDK does come out.
to be honest if the standard desktop allowed for extra screens, and had widgets already, I'd probably not look at either of these extras.
Whats the difference with the full version, we don't have it yet as theres no paid apps in EU?

Does anyone know if saving ahome as the default home is the reason why my phone got frozen when I restarted it? I remember seeing a warning do not set as a default home but I don't see it anymore.

I was always able to drag apps or folder from one screen to the other, the only thing was that if wanted to go left it need it to be in landscape mode

whats the meaning of having two "aHome app" threads when the same things are getting discussed in both?
