In the new beta, if wifi is not already enabled, ShopSavvy will not allow skyhook to run a location fix, which would enable wifi in the current marketplace version.

what about the gps? i have gps enabled but will it randomly allow skyhook to run? it would be great if it was just when the app is being used

if you have wifi off then skyhook will not run, regardless of your gps settings.. the gps will still poll periodically, but it's frequency has been reduced dramatically..

Love the app, will give it a try as long as skyhook won't run.

I could be nuts, but all you have to do is turn off the wireless in the privacy settings.

I loved this app but hated it once it got buggie w/the wifi stuff...hopefully it's fixed!

yeah your right but what if i wanted local prices too? what then? go into setting every time i wanna use it and then go back everytime i dont?

EXACTLY! Thanks but no thanks...I've always liked shopsavy, think the concept is very cool, but that wifi issue drove me nuts.

Just to re-iterate, this beta will not enable your wifi if you have disabled it, unlike the previous version. This holds true even with privacy mode is turned off.. Hopefully it won't be too long before we push this version out to the market, but we need more testing before that can happen.

Yep thats what I do. It only takes a few seconds and it keeps the GPS from poping on now and then when you don't want it. Sure its something that needs addressed or is probably in the works, but hey its the price to pay for FREE. :D

With 1.5 supporting improved AGPS, they should be able to drop the Skyhook dependency (I hope).
