some peoples signatures are way too big imo and i've just turned them off in the 'user CP'.
on some threads 1/2 the page is a few peoples signatures.

If you do something just to be spiteful, that would be kind of childish wouldn't it? Especially after you complained about it.... but if is too big or outrageous it will be removed or resized. So I guess this would be a warning in that case. I advise you use your better judgement on this and don't try pushing the limits.. Sincerely from the a.c. staff.

why should i have to turn them off, people tend to have relevant info to their threads such as location and firmware versions and now i can't see that.

You have answered your own question.... if you wanna see what people have in their signatures then set up to view them... otherwise set to not view signatures... i personally like to see what others have got goin on so i dont mind signatures at all with their info in them... it helps to know who you can ask certain questions to...

You seem to be playing both sides of this argument.... if its that big of a deal set up a poll to see if others agree... this site listens to the users and we are more than happy to discuss issues that our users have.

Maybe what should happen is that a persons signature should only show up once per page or once every 3 pages or something. I mean come on do i really need to see all of that info with every post

Despite the fact that it doesn't really bother me, I think these kids have a point. It is rather annoying when you visit a thread and the majority of the characters revealed are below the horizontal line in each post.

A signature is exactly that, a signature. Not a profile, not a website, not a wiki.
You guys should just add more entries to profiles and let people add the information that way. Most of it is irrelevant to me. I only need to know about my firmware, not yours. And if for some reason I do need to know I have the option to click over and find out.

Like I said, it doesn't really bother me too much. But, having more information in the signature than the majority of the posts people make are not a good rep for this forum. Just throwing that out there.

Well, I happen to agree that a lot of the signatures here are rather large. Id rather prefer there be a limit of 200 to 300 pixels taken up on the height of signatures. And that's reasonable, because a lot of forums have a limit on the amount of characters or 100 pixels as the max height for signatures.

Yeah, I'm looking to either get the EeePC 1008HA or the EeePC 1000HE. I'm pretty torn on both. 1008HA has a smaller keyboard which is perfect, as well as being more compact and weigh less. But it only has a 6 hour battery life. The 1000HE has all the goodies, a keyboard with a lot of space between the keys which I hate, but a 7-9.5 hour battery life, which I'd enjoy.

I've been all about compact since I've had my baby EeePC since December 2007. It has been dear to me and has done everything I could possibly never imagine it to do, as well as amaze me that a celly can even do so much as it does.

It's one of those things I never realized how much the sigs annoy me until I turned them off. It's so much nicer to browse threads now without add the added junk distracting me.

I agree sigs should be short and sweet while profile pages can be as detailed and long as people want them. Until a limit is set I'll leave them off.

I'm not much of a poster on this site but I do visit multiple times a day to read current news and threads.

For what it's worth I turn off avatars and signatures whenever I sign up for a forum. I don't need/want to know about the "blanging rims" on one's leased vehicle, nor do I need/want to know every application installed on one's phone, and I especially don't need to wade through pages of it for every post.

I'm with a number of people on this one. I don't mind people expressing themselves a little, but my full sized laptop died, and I am now using a netbook. It drives me crazy to have to scroll through, repeatedly mind you, the same gigantic sigs. Whatever though, since their is no rule against people putting their biography in their sig, I can't fault them for doing it; I just wish they wouldn't.
