This is a very small but very cool application for anyone, like myself, that is a fan of the French dance duo Daft Punk.

For someone like me who's been a Daft Punk fan since their first single "Da Funk" way back in '97 (I still have the cassingle somewhere ;) ) this is a particularly awesome app.

It should be pretty obvious from the picture what this app does, but I'll explain anyway. It's basically just a soundboard (and a very responsive one at that) that plays the vocoder vocals from the song "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger".....some of you who aren't dance music fans may know that song from Kanye West's sampling of it on his song "Stronger".

I was very impressed with the quality and level of the sounds. Loud, and clear.......giving you hours of fun! (OK maybe not hours, but at least a few minutes).

I'd like to see them add:

Pitch Bending (like on this one that it's based off) (http://www.najle.com/idaft/)

A music loop of the "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" so that you can hit the pads in time with the song.

More songs, like maybe "Around The World" (although that would only need one pad), but a good one might be "Technologik" - that would work just as well as "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger", IMO.

That's it! Enjoy the app! Thanks to Android-France.fr for the screenshot.

Just like to point out that an update was sent out today, adding Pitch Bedding/Alternate Tones. Very cool, props to the developers for listening to the feedback given.

I love this app. Seriously a lot of fun to play with. Thanks CaseyRain for the review, it led me to try it out. Big fan of Daft Punk here too.

if only someone could make a drum machine I would pay a lot for one it uses this same idea but u can add your own tones and create beats and save them

I second that, texas-born. there have been a few attempts do do that, but lag issues have made it not so nice. I'm hoping as more people get their chops on 1.5 someone could crack that situation. I've yet to get 1.5 pushed to me yet... so I don't have all the information in front of me. We'll see.

Glad you enjoyed the review Prash.

There isn't much to this app, but it will definately be a lot of fun for any Daft Punk fan.

There's a drum machine in the market, texas_born. It's called Electrum and is pretty good. It's a bit quiet though, which is annoying.

edit: lag on the new daft machine has been worked out. awesome! I don't know if it's possible, but if a loop type of situation is set up... I think it could be awesome to somehow link different g1's together so their timing is synced. (using BT maybe?) That feautre would especially be cool if different instruments could be selected (i.e. drum samples and basslines perhaps). Just a thought.

It's more on route to where I'd like to see music based apps go. It would be a little bit more open, rather than restricted to one particular song. No offense intended. It's all going in the right direction - and that's excellent.

I hate saying this but the. iphone has an app for like 20 bucks its really awesome I forgot the name but I would pay that much prolly more if there was an app like that for us.

Intua Beatmaker might be the app your talking about... I think. Electrum was the app that had lagged quite a bit. Melodica is cool because it loops. in videos, people create 'attempts' at songs, but I don't think one can save songs. Maybe if we could save songs, and even have the songs tranlated into text files so that people can send them to other people, and then converted back.

Hi,

I'm the developer of Electrum Drum - Version II is out now which doesn't have the lag anymore.

Anyway, I was wondering (if Texas_Born is by chance reading this ) what features you would like so see in a drum app.

I'm familiar with BeatMaker, but the android phones don't have enough power to do all that that app can do (FX, etc). Possibly a multitrack sequencer, but I don't know if they could handle that much work either or not.

Electrum Drum II though now plays real time, and I've got a couple new sample packs out for it, and it can export to WAV, so it should work for lots of types of beats. There are features I'd like to put in but I'm not sure the android platform can support them yet (need some horsepower :) ).

Hey man, I bought your app and love it. It's a little quiet though, any chance you can make the samples a bit louder?

I'll think about what features I would like to see in a drum app. If you could make it send MIDI signals over wifi like the app "Musical Pro" that would be freakin awesome. I would use it all the time. "Musical Pro" is great for triggering soft synths but if I could have virtual drum pads to trigger **** that would be very cool.

Hi,

I just sent out an update to 2.0.1 (I'm assuming you may have Electrum Drum II?) that you can now adjust the volume of a sample up to 250% louder, not just 100% (which is "normal" loudness), so hopefully that will help.

Usually if the drum machine is currently playing you can then adjust the volume on your phone, and it will then turn up the media volume, that may help too (unless you tried that already).

Oh, and yep I did do some investigation into MIDI. I'll take some more time to look into that. You mention something more than export to MIDI though, right, you want to continously output MIDI signals...Have to take a look see.

I've added a global volume control, but I need to work on the volume knob graphic over the weekend to get it to fit the theme of the drum machine. It works and can turn the overall volume up as well.

So version 2.1.2 or so should have this (at 2.1.0 right now)

2.1.0 fixes the random close bug, and also enables the machine to auto load the last patterns you were working on.
