Do you get a 3G connection with your phone or just Edge? I've got a Magic from I/O with a T-Mobile sim and I can only get Edge on the Rogers network here.

Thanks for all the welcomes :D The reason i was asking was because it seems rogers has its head up its butt (surprise) regarding this phone, and there was some info i wanted to share, but i will share here :D

I called in asking why, when i used the MY ACCOUNT shortcut provided on the desktop of the phone i was unable to view 'My 5'. Turns out they were using a wap browser that their version (or all, i am not sure) of the Dream does not support. So after 2hrs of talking to them, they have changed the link to lead to the actual Rogers.com site, instead of their rogers.clearnet (or something) site.

secondly, when i got the phone i was told that i would be able to view my internet usage online -- which turns out is not true. You have to call 1888Rogers1 and ask to speak to the DataICC (customer care) people in order to find out your usage. pain in the ass? yes.

Thirdly, no paid android market apps. this is a huge pain. My snapphoto app keeps crashing, but i cant get to the version that wont crash. >_<

@jjjheimer (http://androidcommunity.com/forums/members/jjjheimer/) I get 3g.

A Rogers subforum would be a good idea.

Yes the market has only free or lite apps available... any way to get around that?

Also a nooby question if I may: what is 'rooting'?

I HATE Rogers with a passion, but they always get the best phones. I knew I really wanted the Magic so i bought the phone and went to Fido on a month to month plan. You don't need to unlock the phone to do this. And yes i know Rogers owns Fido, they just run it better than themselves.

Seriously, until Rogers moves to the 21st century by dropping it's stupid access fee and it stops counting by the minute and moves to seconds they're not worth it.

Enough ranting, I love the Magic. Currently in the process of learning to program Android Apps and hopefully i'll have some out soon.
