If it is, I'll get the Hero when it comes out on t-mobile with my contract, and the i7500 I'll buy without the contract. I'll need an HTC phone if I'm going to be on xda.

Everything gets hacked eventually, but not at XDA, I believe they are an HTC-only forum. That's what makes me sad about getting it, I need to search the web to find a new home for hacking this beastie.

Please do inform us if you do find such a place on the interwebs.

I thought that they also did Windows Mobile stuff.
< edit >
I just did some searching. Apparently XDA is specifically for HTC PDA phones.
This site is about certain PDA-phones, made by a firm called HTC in Taiwan.

(on sprint now! heh!)You have my sympathies. I live in the hometown of Sprint's World Headquarters. It's almost a ghost town, at least 2/3 empty. They've laid off everyone they can without locking the doors, they're hurtin' in a bad way. Hope you didn't recently sign a new contract.
Other than nice specs, I just don't understand the appeal of the i7500. To me, it's got a kinda 90's thing goin' on in the button area. The Magic looks cleaner and more modern to my eyes. And - it's got no trackball a-la the G1 and Magic. I need/want that trackball.
But that's just me I guess...

I'm with you.
I can't pronounce it, but what I'm waiting for is the Huawei U8230...
Now THAT is a sleek looking phone!

Full 3.5 in screen, 5 MP camera, 3.5mm Headphone jack... sounds great, from what I've read about it!
I think the 8gb internal storage and 5mp cam with flash is what does it for most of us. Not to mention an actual 3.5mm jack for headphones.
Almost forgot the OLED (or was it AMOLED?) screen.. Can't remember, just remember the screen uses less juice. Whatever the new thing is these days.

In that video, they're showing one in all-black ( or dark gray), no iPhoney chrome wrap-around. Looks much better without it. Android is not loaded on it in the video. If the specs are good could could be OK, but I'd have a problem with giving up hard keys. Not sure Huawei is the kinda quality that HTC is either. I'm more interested in function than form usually, but...a nice-looking phone less the chrome.

Nope, 2.5mm jack, still need an adapter for that.
Yeah... seems the wowi, er, hawaii, er.....um... huey...whatever, comes with a 2.5mm jack and only 3.2MP camera.
Still, even in black, it looks nice, but what a fingerprint magnet!

GSMArena is saying the phone has 8gb of internal storage and 128mb of RAM, plus a microSD slot of course. Given that... wouldn't that mean it will have less system RAM than the MyTouch at 192mb? I'm guessing they mean 8gb for int. storage means ROM plus other data you want to store like music, etc.
If that's how this phone is set up, I'd rather go with the MyTouch and slap a 16gb class 6 microSD and have more RAM and a trackball. Am I wrong on these assumptions?
Oh, and the I7500 is sporting the AMOLED screen, which indeed uses less power plus displays way more colors than the 65k that the G1 and MyTouch provide.

Even though the Samsung announcement press release (http://innovator.samsungmobile.com/bbs/tech/view.do?boardId=4&messageId=17461) specs mention T-Mobile's UMTS (3G) frequency for data access (1700MHz), none of Samsung's product pages for Denmark (http://www.samsung.com/dk/consumer/detail/productPreviewRead.do?model_cd=GT-I7500OKAXEE), Finland (http://www.samsung.com/fi/consumer/detail/productPreviewRead.do?model_cd=GT-I7500OKAXEE), Norway (http://www.samsung.com/no/consumer/detail/productPreviewRead.do?model_cd=GT-I7500OKAXEE) and Sweden (http://www.samsung.com/se/consumer/detail/productPreviewRead.do?model_cd=GT-I7500OKAXEE) mention 1700MHz.
So even if it gets released to T-Mobile, I'd double check that it can do 3G Internet access.
