Hi,

I just bought the HTC Magic, but I can't read any video from youtube website: I have the "flash not installed" message in the browser page. I can't watch any video from the mobile version of youtube website. And I don't find any youtube application in the menu. I tried to find it on the market, but I didn't find the youtube application.

Can you tell me how to watch a youtube video on my android phone ?

Thanks!

Steve

The YouTube application should be preinstalled, just look at the end of your applications.

My HTC Magic is also missing the youtube application. So stupid that I can't download it from the market :(.

Anybody got a solution for this problem ?

I've also asked it on the youtube mobile app community forums but no response.

I was looking at the Canadian HTC Magic sold by Rogers which has the application installed, however I think that is on the "Google Phone" Android option, where they get the full Google experiance and all associated apps.

Mmmm strange but the quick start that is included has a youtube part and that says access the application in the applications menu.

Is there a way to install it on android without the markt? Because it isn't downloadable on the market.

I've downloaded android 1.5 and copied the youtube .apk and .odex files on my sd card and then tried to install it with Apps installer but that failed :(.

Anybody got another idea on how to fix this ?

I tried but in control panel I get adb can't connect to the device
I have downloaded some drivers, but windows won't install em for the phone
(it keeps saying it s a mass storage usb device) so I can't get adb to talk to my device :( any tips?

I'm pretty sure we're just trying to install the wrong package, we got the apk and odex from the update.zip (1.5) but they re from the system/app folder which means they're 'already installed' , right? We need a full .apk package , I m guessing?

I think you can just push the APK and the other file in system/app. If you don't have ABD you can always use Linda file manager to move it to that folder... My Vodafone Netherlands Magic came with all google stuff installed :)

I do have ADB but it won't write to the /system/app
just trying to push the .apk over ABD doesn't work

it has appeared on Dutch blog now:

And Linda File Manager seems a bit expensive if I don't know if it ll work (other file manager can't do it...)

Other strange problem: I only see free applications in the market. Do you have the same problem with the belgian HTC Magic ?

I have a samsung galaxy sii and experience the same issue with the missing youtube app. The application is there but is not accessible through the applications menu. I can find it via search and from the market, where it figures as installed. If I click it there I can open it.
How can this issue still be a problem after 2 years?

BTW: The fix for me was to uninstall the app and reinstall it through the market. Worked as a charme.
