"Google has reserved 1 million phone numbers (http://www.networkworld.com/news/2009/061809-google-voice.html?hpg1=bn) with Level 3, signaling that it may finally be ready to roll out its long-anticipated Google Voice service (http://tech.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09/03/12/1254241&tid=217). The free service, announced in March, lets users unify their phone numbers, allowing them to have a single number through Google Voice that rings a call through to all their phones. Sources could not say when the 1 million numbers may be assigned. Level 3 has been supplying Google with phone numbers since the introduction of Google Voice, so the 1 million numbers are an indication Google is close to adding a significant number of users. A public launch has been anticipated since Google said in March the service would be 'open to new users soon.' One early user said: 'I've only been using Google Voice for a few months, but it's completely changed the way I use voicemail and communicate... When it goes public, I think the rush to grab Google Voice numbers is going to be stunning. I know some of my friends check the Google Voice page almost every day to see when they can grab a number and get started using it.'"

I've had a Google Voice account since it was known as Grand Central. It's nifty, but the transcripts are often hilariously inaccurate. I liked Grand Central's ability to play a different ring sound -- I opted for the European ring, for instance, but once had the Las Vegas ring ("And will they pick up..... no!"). Sadly, Google seems to have discontinued that.
Sometimes the line quality is horrible and there's a 1-2 second delay between what I say and when the other party hears it, which makes for interesting conversations.

Do you still use it? You make it sound really buggy when i've heard nothing but good from it =/

It has been reported that Google is finally sending out invitations to some of those who registered to get a notification on the Google voice website.

Ive been using grandcentral for the past 2 years and now with google voice. It would be awesome if we had a app to check voicemails etc...
If only google voice gave us the ability to track call logs online like grandcentral used to.

Lollll..
Yayyyyy Us!
Well, this is what I'm going to use it for...
I can give my clients and other people who I rather not have my main cell number
My Google #
So now they can call or text that number and I will receive all calls and texts via my main phone.

DaYuMu, it is about time! How are you liking it? I am still torn between it and You Mail. I only use my cell phone number and am more interested in it for voice mail than anything esle.

Well Susan, I'm leaning more towards YouMail (simply for it's customization) which Google doesn't have at this time.
I haven't synced the number with YouMail yet (if that's even possible)
