HTC Hero Theme 1.3.5 + Cyanogen/TheDude Camera

I have Cyanogen 3.4.6 ROM flashed on my phone and I had the awesome camera that has zooming capabilities, i believe TheDude also have that. But now I flashed the HTC Hero Theme 1.3.5 on my phone and i lost the camera and i really want that back.

is it possible to still have the hero theme installed and still have my zooming camera back?

i searched everywhere but couldnt find a clear answer.

I originally posted this in cyanogen's thread, but may as well post it here too. If you're using his latest update (3.4.6) you have a fully working HTC camera but flashing this theme takes it away. I repacked the hero theme with the HTC camera, so you don't lose the camera after flashing this theme

lol looks like there isnt much difference in 1.3 and 1.3.5 anyways...

*Not much new in 1.3.5, just some bug fixes. Fixes the arrows in settings, tabs, and folder titles.

I couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about the camera. When I flashed Hero 1.3.5 it looked just like the stock camera. Now that I flashed the new Hero rom with the HTC camera, it is alot better. I noticed the file size was larger so wondering if they just added the camera to 1.3.5.

It wasn't your statement. I've reading about the HTC camera on several forums. It is alot better than stock, quite a few settings and "zoom".

I posted these methods last night on XDA if theres someone that doesnt want to use the User uploaded/modded themes

No script. just a few commands.
Just have the camrea.apk from v3.4.6 on the root of your SD
Then in Terminal Emulator
"su"
"cd /sdcard"
"install camera.apk /system/app/camera.apk"

That should do it.

OR

If your not comfortable with command line then you can use AppInstaller from the market.
Just install the app and run it with the camera.apk on the root of your SD.. the rest is self explained.

If you want the updated 1.3.5 Hero theme with the HTC camera, I replaced the camera in the theme with the newer one with zoom. This link is the most up-to-date Hero theme, with the minor bug fixes and the zoom camera.

I appreciate the work alritewhadeva did repacking the theme, but why would he use an outdated version of the theme? :confused:

Yup, any issues let me know, worked just fine for me though. HTC camera with zoom, plus all of the fixin's. If the HTC camera isn't included in future revisions I'll just keep adding them myself.

So, it seems everyone here nows a lot about android, rooting, and stuffs... stuffs I don't know much about.. If it isn't much asking, could you or anyone help me, what is "rooting" the phone, how can I get it done, and also is there an complete, non-beta version of the HTC Hero OS (Sense UI)? if so, where can I get it?
I have a black G1, with an 8gb memory card, not sure what class it is, and i fell in-love with the HTC Hero interface... It seems to be like having android but much better... Which I, actually thought it would be hardly possible..
I could use some (by some I mean a LOT of) help..

if i were you i would start small and work your way up to hero. hero is not the most stable as of yet. it is really laggy and not ready for everyday use.
start by rooting your phone here is the guide i used. read it 2 or 3 times, follow every step and you will be fine. happy rooting!

Installed another version of 1.3.5 that was signed and it worked fine, no bugs. I went ahead and downloaded from your link and it is working fine also. I compared both builds and they were the same except on yours one of the apks was about 2 hours newer than the other.

Yeah, I know the modded Hero theme is all over the place, I just saw the link to an older version in this thread, wanted to keep AC up to date. The one you picked up may have come from cidica, he did the same thing I did over at xda.

If you have a b&w camera, clear the settings in camera, thats supposed to fix it, go back to default.

So I have lock 2.0 intalled on my phone and I just noticed my phone would turn off by itself. Does this have something to do with the lock 2.0 and hero theme together? Should I just uninstall and forget about lock 2.0?
