Today I was at the T-Mobile store, and I talked to a really cool guy who is pretty much the Android rep at the store. Anyway, we talked about a few things that I was curious about, and one of them was an official Facebook app, for all of you out there who really want one like I do. Anyway, T-Mobile has the app on one of it's other phones, which I thought "Ok cool, so at least I know T-Mobile has one now." so I asked him if it was coming to Android. He pulled me aside, and pulled the HTC Magic out of his pocket, or the MyTouch as T-Mobile will call it, and he showed me Facebook on there, he said that the app should hit the android market once the MyTouch is officially released in August (not the promo release but the full release) Which means G1 users will also be able to obtain it. He couldn't show me too much on the MyTouch though, due to there being too much of the "general public" in the store at the time.
This in my opinion, is very good news, I honestly do not like any of the third party Facebook apps, but I love the official Myspace app, so I always wished there was an official Facebook app for Android, and now there should be! :]

I feel bad for Bloo now...it's being released this week.

I'll probably still check it out simply because the official Facebook app wont hit Android until Augustish, so I can give it a chance at least.
I'm just excited that there's finally going to be an official one.

The Hero does have one, except that one takes it a step further by making it a live widget that updates periodically (I think you can set when it updates) and its all right there on your home screen without having to actually go find the app and run it.

how in the world did he have access to this app when there isn't any evidence of an official app existing on the net? you think it might have been one of the few "unofficial" BUT BETTER LOOKING facebook apps coming out soon?

Well, there IS an official Facebook app on T-Mobile, one of their other phones has it, I forget which one it is. Like I said I just saw a Facebook app on the HTC Magic he was using, I didn't get too many details however and I didn't get to try it for myself considering he couldn't really have it out in front of everyone, he had to pull me to the side just to show me. The people at T-Mobile get to test a lot out though, I remember when a guy at T-Mobile first showed me the G1 before it was released, so I honestly don't know, but I'm not arguing either. It might have just been a port of T-Mobile's Facebook app from their other phone on to the Magic for all I know. I would have found out more but he had to go help other customers so he gave me his business card and I left.

That we do, but now that you showed me those two apps, I'm going to have to give them a try, they actually look/sound very good, like real apps, not just wrappers for the mobile website, I hate those.
It sucks cause there is a kickass Myspace app, which I enjoy, but I use Facebook more often so I've really been waiting for a good Facebook app and not just some crappy wrap.
Anyway, all in good time my friend, all in good time.

Yeah I was looking at the screenshots, it looks really nice, can't wait to give it a whirl once it comes out, which hopefully is very soon, but by the sounds of it, Bloo will be out before Androidbook, so I'll probably give that a try, and then Androidbook, see which one I like better.

DC has put a lot of time in to "Bloo" and I will buy/support him even if the FB app drops the same day.
