I just wanted to let everyone know, that I talked to a lady from T-Mobile, and she originally told me about October/November for the release of Donut, but this was maybe a few weeks ago.
Anyway, just today I talked to another T-Mobile employee, except at this store he's kind of like the go to guy for anything Android, he's pretty much the rep. He was telling me not to get my hopes up for a release that soon, he said its more likely in the area of March/April.
I don't know how accurate it is, but considering what happened with Cupcake, I would NOT doubt it, so I just wanted to let you all know, that way you don't get TOO excited for such an early release.

Thanks, I just don't want people to get too excited and then get their hopes crushed or whatever, haha.

True, right now I am more interested in the Hero, but it also makes me wonder if the Hero is still gonna get 2.0 and any other updates like the Dream and Magic will, sense its running "HTC Sense" or if HTC is gonna have their own updates...hmm.

ok. i dont know how many time this needs to be said...
THE T MOBILE REPS DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING. (let it sink in for a bit....)
i know more about android then the t mo reps. let me show you how it works... t mobile reps... work for t mobile... and t mobile specifically does not tell its employees about future releases, OTA updates(before they happen), or anything interesting for that matter... so anything they tell you is:
1. something they heard about or read on their own personal time.(not credible)
2. something they just tell you so they can sound like they have an answer.(not credible)
3.or just flat out bs.(not credible)(also 90% of the time this is the case.)
i guarantee right not if i call a 611 on my tmo phone and ask them about donut, Hero, the i7500, bigfoot, or even "Root access" they wouldnt have a clue what im talking about....
so enough with the "zOMG a tmo rep told me..." stuff cause its not true. i would believe something i read on the Onion before i listened to one of those clowns....

4. or something they read of their computer screen after running a simple search in the t-mob knowledge base (what t-mob wants its employees to tell customers)

Well, I can see your point, they usually don't know jack about anything.
I also never said that was an official release date, just sort of an estimated release, kind of based on how the cupcake took forever.
Even if he is completely wrong, I just don't see 2.0 coming in August, it seems too soon when cupcake is still brand new to the general public.
Also, next time, try not to be a **** about it, I never said any of it was official, I'm only passing along information here, never claimed it to be 100% true, I would just rather not see people get their hopes up too much for a 2.0 release like a monthish from now, it seems a little far fetched if you ask me.

i know a little info about donut but not much tho. my friends works for motorola and a ton of his coworkers are working 60hr weeks developing and implementing donut in motorola's new phones. he's telling me they want it ready for a january release.
from what i know, motorola are working on verizon as a carrier for that division he's in. i can tell u its pretty legit since he's giving me some info that i will find out being leaked a few days later like the morrison phone that was just leaked. so if motorola is planning at least a january release i'm thinking the latest for a donut release will be january. i cant gurantee that someone else wont release something earlier or it being announced earlier by android. at least we know its in the vicinity of being not later than january give or take a month or two.

Yes I agree, new hardware would be for the best, right now I'm content with cupcake, although I'm drooling over the HTC Sense UI.
What would be ideal for me is an HTC Dream2, just the same thing but with specs on par to that of the Magic and Hero. :p

Store guys and gals never know much. I've done some research in all carrier's stores to find out about android and smartphones, pretending i knew nothing.
One lady at vodafone told me that I could install windows .exe files on an LG Anena (java phone), and that she often uses windows mobile apps on her blackberry. And oh yes, she told me that her blackberry sometimes crashes when she has too much iPhone apps installed.
An other one took about 10 minutes time to find out that "tap here to start" actually MEANS you have to tap there to start.
The Vodafone guy told me that the HTC MAgic would be in stores next year, then I said there is a working test model right there on the wall.
The KPN girl said I would get a 16GB SD with it and she didn't know what a 3.5mm jack is.
aaaand one of the salesmen of Vodafone needed me to point him to their own site to show they REALLY had a promotional price for internet, just 2.50 a month.
