I was searching for some good deals and the first places I go for any computer products is newegg.com (http://newegg.com) and pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com).

I bought #8 from pricewatch's list (http://www.pricewatch.com/flash_card_memory/microsdhc_8gb.htm), 8GB microSDHC and MobileMate Micro reader for $42 and free shipping from Unity Electronics.

It shipped in 3 days and the transfer speeds were fairly quick, about 30-45 seconds to transfer an episode of the Office(175MB).

If you look on the pricewatch list there are some cards that are class 4 and class 6. Since there is no PC to phone transfer(yet), I went with the MobileMate addition over speed. I'm a patient person a few seconds difference isn't going to bother me. I'm waiting for the 16GB(or higher) to come down in price.

Alot of ebay stock pics are old or they don't show it because they don't want to admit they are selling class 2 cards. Newer cards have the class(speed) in a little circle on the corner next to the name of the card.

I just got a class 4 I think, from one of the sites online for $25 shipped. I'm not too concerned with speed because I don't frequently copy files to it, and it's plenty enough for the download speeds I'll get in the market :)

Those are some good deals if they are truly the rate they're advertising. I'll be happy with this until 16gb prices drop.

I'm not trying to scare you or anything, but as someone who works with AData parts (who is NOT SPEAKING FOR HIS EMPLOYER RIGHT NOW, speaking as the Tech Support department), AData being the first on the market with a Class 6 card scares me. When we first listed 8GB MicroSDHC cards, we had them listed as Class 6. We found out companies like Sandisk and such were having trouble reaching Class 6 at the time and everyone only could get Class 4.

We're having trouble with the 150x AData SD 2GB/4GB cards. I've had at least 5 customers who've sent cards back to us where their pictures were unrecoverable and I had to use this amazing program I have to recover all the pictures/videos from the cards. When it comes to their cards, I don't recommend their 150x, only their 80x.

So if Sandisk and Transcend and such had Class 6 cards then it wouldn't be a big deal, but if they don't and AData, which we're seeing a pattern of them jumping to faster speeds which have issues after a while are the first on the market with a Class 6, you can see why I would be worried.

On the subject of EBay sales, make sure to check the return policy. I get calls all the time from people who say "I bought this memory for my camera/desktop/laptop and it's not the right type of memory and they refuse to allow me to return it, even though they said it worked with my machine." Even if you get a bum card, you have to deal with the manufacturer. We sell on EBay as well as our store (we see it as a marketing thing - people who buy from us on EBay and get a good experience are likely to shop again directly from our website) and our lifetime warranty (where we handle all the paperwork and such with the manufacturers, you just get another part right away) is in effect for EBay and Website orders.

BTW, we do have that Sandisk as pictured on Pricewatch for $30 on our site, but I'm trying to see about a deal for Android Community members to shave a few bucks off the price. Right now it'll be $65 for 16GB Class 2's.

I didn't think there was anything above 6 either untill I found this article. That got me searching and I found one after looking at a bunch of class six ones. I was just gonna go for a class 6 due to the price difference on the first couple I found, but I figured 39 bucks wasn't too bad, no link cause the site doesn't have them listed anymore.( I hope that means they ran out and not that they were a misprint) Will post if it is wrong when it comes in.

Ok, so let's break it down.

Flash memory uses the same speed ratings as CD Rom drives have.

So if you were to buy an 80x SD Card, you would multiply that number with 150KB/s and get 12MB/s. The fastest card we stock is 266x, so that would be 39.9MB/s (or most places just call them 40MB/s). Many companies don't even stick to the same speeds. Some use 60x, while others use 80x. Some use 120x while others use 133x. 266x seems to be the limit for all of them. As you can see, there is no set standard that every company follows rigidly and it just takes some math to see what that breaks down to. (but can you say just because a company claims their product is 133x, are their rates always going to be better/perform faster than the 120x cards of your competitors?)

SDHC is slower NOW, but I think in the future we'll be hitting speeds which surpass these. 4GB SD cards were a kludge which don't work in a lot of devices. They seem to work fine in almost anything with SDHC support, though. It's letting us hit these higher capacities. Plus, there's no more math, it's really straightforward. Class 2 is 2MB/s, Class 4 is 4MB/s, Class 6 is 6MB/s and so on. This should standardize speeds, unless you have some company doing something wacky like "First Class 16 card on the market!!!" when Class 12 cards aren't shipping yet. Sure, SDHC is slower than what the average person is buying in SD speeds, but we'll get there.

Thanks for the link to Class 6 Sandisk cards. I'll see if our flash buyer can get some of those.

EDIT: I read the article. Sped things up, eh? wow. Our flash buyer can't get the Class 6 card right now, but we'll see if performance is sluggish on the Class 4. If we DO get the Class 6 in anytime soon from Sandisk, maybe I can buy one and compare performance.

I don't know if you guys already know, but Zipzoomfly has the A-DATA 8 gig Class 6 MicroSDHC for 25.99 plus (7.28 shipping) = 33.27 total.

It's the best deal I've found for a 8 gig class 6 thus far. They also have bill-me-later as a payment option.

When I ordered mine, it said "limited quantities - 20 left". You guys may want to jump on that ASAP. :)
