Hey guys, I'm new to these forums, so I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, but I'd like to ask if it would be possible to flash the Galaxy with the Hero's since they have and identical hardware configuration and so the Galaxy would have the Sense UI. And if this would work would this enable multitouch on the Galaxy?

I don't see why it would not be possible!
The only criteria would be that the Galaxy was rooted!
MT I'm not sure about.

Thanks for the quick answer. The Galaxy can already be rooted, so that wouldn't be and issue. I think MT is ought to work if Sense UI works since they're part of the same rom and the Galaxy's hardware is capable of MT...Oh well, all we can do is just wait and see

I lost interest in the Galaxy after hearing about the RAM. :o

I've read somewhere that it has 192mb of usable ram just like the hero. It was proven by a screenshot of the task manager or something like that.
Check out this thread for more information: http://discuss.gdgt.com/samsung/galaxy/general/has-the-galaxy-enough-ram/

Well we'll have to wait until somebody gets one of them and checks it out if we want to make sure...Nevertheless I'll still go with the Galaxy, because I think that AMOLED screen is really good

The screenshot I think you guys were mentioning: http://www.i7500world.com/2009/08/09/official-samsung-galaxy-has-192mb-ram/
Not sure if the Hero ROM now works with it since the specification of the phone is slightly different. The 2nd question being is it worth having the Hero ROM on the Galaxy as the 100MB of missing RAM may cause it to lag or run very slowly...

idk why everybody always makes a big deal on the ram a phone has. i do understand a phone must have decent size ram to run smooth, but it's not the only thing that makes a phone run faster u know.. ram ram ram like if ram was more important than speed. How about saying i'm not gonna get that phone because I wanna faster processor??... ram doesn't give speed to the phone, it just helps it run smoother by running apps in memory, what REALLY matters is the processor. I want an android phone that runs faster than 528 mhz, and i'm gonna wait cuz I know there are a couple phones coming out with good processors. (sony xperia with 1 ghz for example)

Good point there jroid, but I suppose everyone's just concerned because multitasking is what we're all looking for in a smartphone aka can I surf the web, listen to music, have push emails, facebook and twitter open in the background at the same time.
In this case it's just because some others are saying they notice the lag in the Sense UI, and the HTC Hero is in everyway similar to the i7500 except for hte amount of RAM. If it lags on the Hero, how would it impact performance on the i7500 (assuming we can port it over).
That said, you're probably quite right, its got more to do with the processor than RAM. Probably runs smooth as silk on the upcoming SE Raphael Android phone...
