Hello community I'm back once again bringing you yet another notable app.

NAME- MyMarket

PRICE- Free

This app is an alternative to the app market that comes with them phone. To be honest i havent played around with this app a lot, but it is a very straight forward app and something that should have come with the phone in the first place.

When you first open the app it is a very familiar look except it is missing the "search" and "my downloads" tabs. In their place are the "bookmarks" and "removed" tabs that are very useful!

http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m278/konzern_one/mm.png
Press the menu button and it will bring up 2 options.

The filter option is one of the best features of this app. We all know how flooded the market can get with themes, soundboards and so on, well this app does a great job at filtering apps that you do not want to see.

http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m278/konzern_one/mm2.png
It actually comes preset with "themes" and "soundboards" filtered with the option to filter out widgets.

When you click on "add new" it will bring up the option to filter by developer or title
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m278/konzern_one/mm9.png

I chose developer because i remember this developer that goes by "browser" that only posts shortcuts to websites NOT REALLY AN APP so i filtered them out
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m278/konzern_one/mm8.png

So on to the actual market. The version on this app and the actual market place is virtually identical.
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m278/konzern_one/mm3.png

Navigating through this app is the same as the market but when you find an app you like a short click brings up the individual app menu.

A long press will take you to the actual market so you can download the app. YOU CANNOT DOWNLOAD DIRECTLY FROM THIS APP
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m278/konzern_one/mm4.png

the options are:
~recommend
~bookmark
~Share
~remove

Recommend
I really havent found what this option is actually used for.

Bookmark
This is a very cool option. You see an app that you like but don't really want to download the app at the time. You can bookmark it and track its progress
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m278/konzern_one/mm55.png

so next time you open the app you can go into the bookmark tab and check all your bookmarked apps (i only bookmarked one for the sake of this review)
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m278/konzern_one/mm6.png

Share
This option also comes in handy when you want to share an app with a friend. All you do is click the little envelope and it will open gmail to compose an email to your friend, family, etc.
http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m278/konzern_one/mm7.png

Remove
This option is self explanatory, if you don't like an app and u don't want to see it again all you do is click the "x" and it will be gone.

One thing i didnt like about this app is when you long click an app to download and then go back to "MyMarket" it wont remember the place you were at, so it will start you back at the very top!

Without a downloads section i dont think "MyMarket" will ever replace the real market, i really need my apps up to date.

UPDATE 8/10

v0.9.4:
-bookmarks are now saved on your sd card
-fixed recommending via email Still dont know how to use the recommend feature
-displays if items are installed

Summary

This app is a must have if you like customizing stuff to your liking. The options on this market are what the real market should've come with, but it still has wrinkles to work out for this to replace the real market.

PROS
-ability to bookmark apps
-filter apps
-share apps

CONS
-cant download directly from the app
-no downloads section
-doesnt remember where u were when going from market to market
-no search

Hey guys!

First off, thanks for the thorough review of MyMarket. We really hope to deliver a product that brings more fun into browsing apps and games in the Market.

Konzern said that on going back from the Android Market to "MyMarket", it doesn't remember the place you've been before. Strange -- here on our G1's it seems to do that just fine. Can other people confirm that? Anyway will have a look into that.

Recommendations are currently used to mark items you'd recommend to other people. We are working on a system to provide 'smart' suggestions of possibly interesting apps and games. That feature will come in one week or two.

Next steps on the roadmap we are working on are a Search function as well as "My Downloads", amongst a few other ideas. The next update is scheduled for next Monday, 17.8. Having released the first version three days, we are already way down the "by date" listings, and waiting for a week between updates will bring you up on top of the list again.

We are always happy to hear about ideas, suggestions and problem reports, and are quite quick integrating those. Keep the ideas coming!

Best,
- Chris

I'm going to try that bug in a little bit when I get a chance, about going from the official Market to MyMarket.

What I like best about this app is bookmarking!

Hey,

Whenever I run this app, it says that it cannot contact the server, no matter how good my service is. Problem is, my caches are on the SD card, so that might be the reason, which obviously would mean it's not you devs' faults. However, it was working for me the first time I installed it, and my market cache was on my SD card then too.

Hey again!

The reason all users got a "Could not connect to server" message between 01:00 AM and 11:00 AM GMT was the following: G* changed the request strings being sent from the market to the servers for querying the pages of apps. This rendered the hardcoded base-request string in MyMarket invalid and we had to update the app with the new string.

I'm really sorry about that -- but we had no way to know this beforehand, the only thing we could do was to react on that as quickly as possible. I hope some people change their 1 star rating again :P

What we have learned from this is that G* might change the request strings anytime, and we are going to implement a backup-string in the hope that not all request strings are changed at the same time. If the backup string would work for 10 - 20 hours, it would be enough time to upload the new request string to a server and have MyMarket download it automatically. This is what we are going to implement in the next update, in the hope to avoid this problem in the future.

Best,
- Chris
