According to the guys over at AndroidGuys (podcast #12), the codebase for the "Doughnut" update may not be available for the G1. In the podcast they mentioned that the cupcake update "barely fit".

Great news G1 owners! I just received the following official statement from T-Mobile corporate:

We plan to continue working with Google to introduce future software updates to the T-Mobile G1. Reports to the contrary are inaccurate.

There you have it. Please continue to enjoy your T-Mobile G1 http://forums.t-mobile.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Haha - you're right - "plans" don't always work, and not only that, what are "future software updates"? "Future" might just mean 1, ever, and "updates" I guess means at least 2 as it's plural.

Anyway, an "update" could be absolutely anything, such as fixing a typo.

How about a statement which actually gives a promise of an actual delivery of Donut and/or Eclair?
