View Full Version : Do I Really Need a Partitioned SD for Cyanogen 4.0.2?

Currently I am running the JF 1.51 Cupcake ROM. I have recently learned that there will be no more JF updates and I am looking for a new custom ROM to switch to. Cyanogen's ROM is supposed to be super fast and fairly stable. I have seen that people are recommending two SD card partitions when installing the ROM.

Is there any real benefit to this?
If so, what does it do?
If I do not partition my SD how would the ROM run on my G1?

When installing JF 1.51 I never had to partition my SD card and it runs just fine. It would be ideal for me to not partition my SD, since I am sort of a newbie with the whole custom ROM thing. A simple "update.zip" in recovery mode would be best for me.

cyanogens rom automatically does apps2sd if your sd is partitioned . other than that , a partition is not needed and runs great without one :)

GREAT!

Have you noticed a real difference in performance with the Donut guts being integrated in the ROM and all?
How is the battery life with it?

Thanks again.
