PC won't read SD Card

I have an 8 gig sd card. It seems to work fine in the phone and I can see my save photos and video. But when I hook it up to the PC is says "Please insert a disk into removable disk F". I mount and unmount the sd card, but it doesn't seem to matter. What am I doing wrong?

Is a windows computer or a mac? When I mount my phone I get a pop up on my desktop that asks if I want to view the files. If you have a card reader you can put the sd card in a reader and transfer the files. I know that's not the answer you want. Just make sure to turn the phone off to take the card out. Are you sure the card is in tight and the door is secure?

The card works fine when its in the phone. I can save to the card and view my photos, music and videos. But when I hook it up to the USB, the PC acts as through there is no card.
