Hey,

I updated my Gmote's VLC as the new VLC player seems to run 1080p much better than its older version.

Problem is that when I updated Gmote with the new VLC I can't get it to remember which monitor I want the video to open on, I've tediously tried every way I can but it just won't stick.

The main thing I notice is theres a bit of a glitch where there's now 2 windows, a solid black java window, and vlc's direct output.

I can get the blank java window to keep opening on the second screen, but the VLC Direct output just refuses to budge.

Any ideas??

Adam

Send a bug report to the dev and downgrade, but I haven't had this problem.

It was fine with the VLC installed straight from gmote, but when I updated Gmote with the latest version of VLC this is what happens.

Don't suppose you are able to test this on yours too to see if you get a similar effect. (I assume you are on dual screen).

Thanks,
Adam

Hi,

There are a few things you can try:

1. Start a video.
2. Press 'esc' while the video is playing to make it exit from fullscreen mode.
3. Drag the window to the other screen. Make sure it is *not* in full screen and make sure that all of the edges of the window fit on the screen.
4. Close the window. This will force Gmote to update its settings.
5. Try re-launching the video. Hopefully it will re-open on the correct screen.

If that doesn't work:
1. Right click on the gmote server icon and select 'help', 'show settings and logs folder'
2. Open the file called default_settings.txt
3. You'll notice a variable called MONITOR_X. This indicates the amount of pixels offset from the left side of the first screen that the main windows should be displayed on.
5. Change the MONITOR_X value to a value that will work for you. It may require some trial and error, but say you have two monitors side by side and Gmote currently opens videos on the left one and has MONITOR_X=0, then if the resolution of your first monitor is 1680x1050, change MONITOR_X=1680. Save the file and restart the Gmote server.

Cheers!

I just love it when the devs come here to support for their apps!

The dev came here to support the app. Maybe I can actually get it fixed and running again. This has happened to me twice now, and the first time the dev tried to help me but, I had fixed it by doing a brand new install of Windows. I'm running Windows 7 and gmote works perfectly fine for a while and then eventually starts giving me this error:
"No enum const class org.gmote.server.settings.DefaultSettingsEnum." and it's followed by a bunch of squares. Happens even if I uninstall and reinstall.

Hi,
I'm on a Ubuntu 9.10 Machine with nvidia drivers an Xinerama and I have the same problem.
The first solution works.. but only until I restart my Computer (GmoteServer). And changing the X variable in the settings file doesn't do anything..
I'd really like to use Gmote but if the videos always starts on my pc monitor instead of my TV it's no use :(

thanks

Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm in the same boat.
