Ok so I have no idea what happened to my G1 but tonight my battery died while i was out and when I got home and plugged it in, it just continuously fails to boot up... it goes to the t-mobile G1 screen and then restarts constantly... i tried taking the battery out, i dont know if the battery is done for and wont hold a charge or if something more serious is wrong, a hard reset doesnt help either... anyone else have this issue? or a solution?

We need more info, are you rooted? What firmware are you using? (cupcake, custom rom) Does it power off while at the G1 screen or will it stay there until you remove the battery? Anything else you can think of that might be helpful probably would, so let us know and we can find an answer

not rooted, OTA Cupcake firmware, Powers on to T-Mobile G1 screen then automatically restarts on its own. Doesn't freeze or anything, it looks like it's going to power on like normal then resets. It constantly turns on and of like this without me doing a thing, ie not pushing power or anything. I mean as far as I know there's nothing I can think of that would be causing this, I'm going to try to take it in to t-mobile later today.

You might try a factory reset.
1.Turn off your phone and reboot by holding power and home until you see an exclamation point inside of a triangle
2. Press alt+l
3. Press alt+w to wipe your phone (factory reset)
4. You will have to sign back in to google like when it was new

You should also be able to reinstall the cupcake update manually by alt+s in recovery (see above). Or rooting your phone may fix it, if it is not hardware related.
Edit: i would post a link to the cupcake file, but i'm on my phone.
