Hey all, I'm still learning quite abit about these custom builds and I'm wondering if I should update to Haykuro's SPL. I'm currently running HardSPL and have read the thread on Haykuro's SPL and cant decide if it is wise to change or not. I'm surrently running Cyanogens 4.1.7 experimental ROM and the rest of my specs are in my sig. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks.

I wouldent recommend installing it. I know that some builds require it but if you plan to keep running cyan's builds i wouldent suggest it. Its not needed in his builds. I have been running HardSPL since day 1 without problems.

Some hero builds ask for it , but for cyans its not needed . I've also been on the hard spl for a while without issues

I'm with ccranford, as long as your running cyan you won't need it. If you want to go to the hero roms you'll probably need to flash it. It is about the only way you can permanantly brick your phone if you do it in the wrong order.

Thanks, I'll stick with what I've got then. Much apreciated.

Interesting. I've had haykuro's spl since before cyanogen's builds. Does it make any difference then if you're running cyanogen?

No, cyans just doesn't require it like the hero roms do.

I flashed it so I could try out Hero, but now I'm back on Cyan's 4.1.7. Doesn't make any difference really, it's just convenient to switch to the other rom if I want to.

i'm not understanding the spl part. do i have to flash a new spl before i install the rom? i'm coming from winmo, so this is all very new to me. i've read a bunch of guides including the 1 click method guide on android and me, and the wiki on xda, but i'm just not understanding a couple of things. just need a little guidance and i should be off and running.

i am going to try the 1 click method and in the guide on how to do that, there is no mention of flashing the spl and radio. do i need to flash a new spl and radio before installing this rom? i want to use cynogens stable ROM 4.04. appreciate the help for a newb

I think you're ok w/ the stock spl for cyanogen. You'll want to get the latest radio: "...26I".

No link, i'm posting from my phone.

appreciate it. so you think i should just leave the stock spl? will that become a problem if i want to install themes later? also, do you install the radio just like you install the rom. move to sd and change file to update.zip and fastboot? thanks again

It will only be a problem if you want to flash a Hero rom, shouldn't be a prob with themes.

Just an aside about spl's. After I flashed Haykuro's spl last night my phone internal memory went from 73mb to 80.9mb. Another aside, one phone took about 5 minutes the second phone hung on the G1 screen and it took a couple hours to get right. Long story short it does increase your internal phone memory, on mine by about 8mb.
