My phone keeps telling me I have two applications to update, but when I go to the update list it tells me all my apps are up to date. The indicator to update my applications seems to be popping up every day, and it's getting a bit annoying. I want to be notified when there really are new updates to download (and it's throwing those in too), but how do I make this fake indicators stop? The problem may have started after I downloaded cupcake, but I'm not really sure of that one. Oh, and it used to be telling me there was one application to update, now it's saying two. Any ideas?

My wife had this same problem, it showed 13 updates, but no programs really to update. I rooted her phone and put on the Cyanogen ROM on it and it's gone :)

The new market that's in the processes of being finished has an option to be notified or not by app updates, you access the option via menu, not too sure where but I'd imagine in the my downloads section. Here in the u.s. for me at least.

ole_rascal -- Can you brake that down for me a little more... how do I root my phone and how do I put Cyanogen ROM on it? I've never heard of either of these... :(

Iceberg -- I would like to be notified when there really are updates to be downloaded, just trying to avoid these false notifications.

MegieM: I finally just turned auto-notify off and check the Market every once in a while on my own. Here is some more info on the problem:
