I've been a long time BlackBerry user & for the most part I've been happy until my Tour started freezing and rebooting itself several times a day.

I've been reading about the HTC Hero, I've always stayed away from HTC products because they've been Winmo devices.

Here are a few questions for all you Android experts.

Android is Google?

If so Why is Flikr the photo site and not Picasa? Will Picasa work on the Hero?

How about Google Sync?

Mac friendly?

Sigh pressed a wrong button and lost everything.
Blah blah blah no one is replying I'll give it a try.

Android is Google?
Android is developed by Google as an "Open Source" platform. But it's main thing/ley was to be the backbone of devices. The g1 and My Touch are solely running the Android OS [boring huh?] Where the Hero is running its Sense UI ontop of Android's os.

So technically it's not the "Google Experience" But its currently the best Android device out there.

I don't know what you're asking/referring to but I know my g1 can upload photos to Picasa, not that I ever use it.

How about Google Sync?
Today mine has been lagging, I don't know why, I probably just need to clear the cache but I'm too lazy. But really it works very well, always on the dot.

Mac friendly?
I'm friendly.
Yea sure it doesn't involve anything really with your computer. Just a Micro usb port that will pull up the sd card when mounted. Nothing really beyond that in my opinion.

On any given photo in your stored albums you get a menu option to 'share', then from a list you can select Flickr or Peep or Picasa etc

afaik, there are plenty of Mac users with Hero - a quick search here or elsewhere should confirm that.

Thanks guys.

By Mac friendly I mean being able to perform updates to the phone.

I think my Blackberry days are numbered.

Updates? The phone should be able to do it on its own without a computer.
Updates with custom firmware? As long as your computer supports USB mass storage and FAT file system, sure.
