Yeah...you want to get the battery that has the continuous smooth replacement battery cover. There is another extended battery that just bumps out the back for the larger battery. It's rather annoying.

I ran around with the larger battery for a while, but one day I picked up my wife's G1 with the stock battery and realized how much better it was to hold. So I now use the stock battery for day-to-day use and use the larger battery for travel where I may go long periods of time without charging and extended use of GPS services.

There is some middle ground. There is another battery that has a higher mAh rating than the stock battery, but is the same size. You may want to give that one a try.

If you have not rooted your phone so that you can use frequency scaling, you may want to look into that.....it helps *alot*.

It's a Seidio 1400 battery. Uses the stock back. Have been using it for4 or 5 months. Get about 2-3 days with it, no wifi or gps just bluetooth all the time.

my main uses would be alot of 3g...a lot of music listening...and the occassional tv episode on the phone or film on my phone.

It comes with the continued big battery case. How is the case to hold? too bulky? does it still fit in its carry case?

I could make do with this....but its not available in the UK. The battery cover not being extended is a real plus!

Just so that you know i am paying £10 for the 2800mAh battery.

Sounds like a sweet deal then, I would get it. There is a 1600 floating around thats the same size as the original. http://www.wireless4cheap.com/product-detail.php?skuno=81931

Im going to have to bite the bullet. At the moment, i carry round a USB cable and charge at work...something i'd rather not do!

I think you get used to the bulky size eventually! Maybe it will even fit better in my hand!

I am running the 2600mAh battery (which I ordered through the Andriod store)with the extended back; it will not fit in the case that came with the phone. I like the fact I can run all I want on the phone and not have to worry about the battery dying. :DYou do get used to it, however my wife has the regular battery and it does feel a lot better in my hand.:(

Has anyone tried that 1600mah battery? That seems like a great compromise.

Unfortunately i would definately need 3g switched on...and i do a lot of browsing too...on top of that i want to watch an occassional episode of something on my phone too....i dont think the 1400 is that much of an longer lasting battery!

I got a 2300mAh battery from ebay. It's bigger than the stock battery and requires a seperate cover

but it was so worth the 15$. Every g1 owner needs to get one.

I dont see why people complain about the bigger size. It makes your phone manlier.

I thought someone here did some battery testing a while back and determined the 1600mAh battery was a bit sketchy. It had a higher rating, but did not perform proportionally better than the stock battery.

I read that also but my cousin has this and it last about 2 or 3 hours longer than the stock, it needs to be conditioned. I have the 2300 and I get 12 hrs of mostly power use so the 2800 should be even better. And if you want a monster, get this 3900mah:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::ee k::eek::eek:
