permission denied

i have a custom cyanogen mod, but i'm trying to install his recovery
getting permission denied in terminal

did i somehow lose root?

did you 'su' first?

indeed i did

$ shows up when loaded , isn't it supposed to be # ?

though i just flashed a rom no problem... literally 5 min ago, trying to resolve the "issue"

i just put in a new sdcard maybe i shoulda copied over the last?
