I think I have a great idea for a cross platform app. Last month I went to a seminar, met a lot of people, and everybody used a blackberry (i was using my brand new htc magic, with hero rom)

All blackberry users just exchange their PINs, and that was it...Meanwhile I had to ask everybody

Name, Last Name, phone number, email address and MSN/GTalk address. We are talking of 100 characters vs just 6 !!!!

The most important feature with BB is BB Messenger. Us, android users are out of it. We have our apps, we've got Google Talk, and MSN, so we can chat. But I think our biggest weakness, is how hard it is to exchange our contact info.

vCard, doesn't work well for me.

Today BB Messenger 5 was released, and had a very cool app that "inspired me". It has some kind of bar code readers. So right now BB owner don't even have to exchange ther PIN, just show it on the screen and have it read by the 2nd user.

People can even publish their bar code pin in facebook, or even printed bussiness cards!!!!

So the app that I'm "propusing" is an app, were my own "business card" could be coded into some sort of bar code. And a reader that uses the phone camera to scan it, and include all the info in the phone contacts.

Is there already some app that does this? If so, I will like to have it...

Check out Dub. It allows 2 people who have Dub to instantly exchange contact information. If only one person has Dub then you can use their mobile # and send your contact info. to them and an invitation to install Dub and create their own card. Anytime you change your contact info. it will automatically be updated to anyone who has your contact information in their phone, it really is cool, I love it! check it out at:

Thanks for the link to the app. That's the idea. Only problem I have is that it works only in US and Canada. I'm from Central America.

But the program seems like a great idea

There are app that can take your info and turn them into a QRcode that can be read by most modern phones.

Yea, not sure why it only has three stars. I use it and its great! It does make it better when you have more people/friends that use the app, it's more fun! They are coming out with an update this month that adds even more features; that should make it even better.

Hey if anybody has it Dub me!

Hey, I know this post is old, but the app Barcode Scanner can turn any of your contacts into the QR barcode. Just make a contact for yourself with all your info, and then you can have the people scan that.
