If you have been longing for a decent PMP running Android, your wait is over. The Archos 5 Android PMP is now on sale. The only rub is that a reviewer at CNET (http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10371297-1.html) isn’t sure if the device is up to its peers.

I think "horrible" is an understatement! I use my G1 for media only 5% of the time... This is a media player.

So the videos are like a bee sting
One time and then it dies.

Idk, I just don't see how impressive the Android platform is when I'm limited to doing anything because my battery dies like a mug.

Battery life:

Music playback time: up to 22 hours
Video playback time: up to 7 hours

This is what is being quoted on the official website. 7 hours of video doesn't sound much, but this PVR also does MKV format for your favourite 720p films or TV shows straight out the box. Adn with the docking station connected to your HD TV, it will be the best player out there.

Also they have released the 500GB version.....I'm totally sold. Buying one this week to replace my old 605 Wi-Fi 160GB.

Except that the G1's biggest battery killer is it managing the cell signal itself. This is an internet tablet and doesn't have a cell signal. That should help battery life A LOT.

Re battery life and the idiotic designer phillosophy of "can never be too thin" Who said thiner is better? who said we prefer thinner packages to thoase that do the job at the expense of a few "silly centimetres?"

Thiner is fine if you really like heroin chic chics (YUCK) but it has as little place in the frontline of device style as transparent does in winter clothes!

Do they even quote an amphour spec on the "battery?" what's with these .6Ahr things, anyway. Cheap cheap cheap.
