Hi !

I'm not a techie so can't answer much. Task Manager: go on market and do a search. There are programmes on there, free, that will do the job. That's the place to get a data counter too, by the way.

Messages and playing games. I don't play stuff, but if I'm listening to Spotfiy I can push the home button and look at messages. Spotify puts a pause icon in the bar at the top. Then you just pull down the notification pane and select the paused track. Same for games maybe???

I've no idea how you'd access a network other than via wi fi. It doesn't sound very likely...

thx for ur answer pete,
i just had access to internet from my friend (first time) and i found a task manager :p
i cant seem to be able to reopen a game from any task manager back to its current state, after pressing home, but rather restarting the game from the menu (usually)

Hello all! I too am a first time poster. ANd, I just bought a HTC Hero, after using Palm devices for many years, and while I see great potential from the Hero, it's also frustrating the bee-jesus out of me! So, some simple questions.

1) Can you set up more than 1 email account?
2) Is there a way to increase the font size?
3) The "guide" says you can choose MP3s that you download from your PC to use as ringtones, but gives no instructions as to how to do that. And what I've tried simply hasn't worked. So, any ideas there?
4) When I sync with Outlook, the contacts do NOT organize in the Hero like they do on my PC in Outlook, and I can't find a method to correct that. Again, any ideas?

Clearly, I'm not particularly computer/smart phone profficient, so these might be really easy things, but they've got me befuddled, so looking forward to hearing back from some truly knowledgeable folks!

hello all i also have a hero and the best app i have used is astro file mngr it will bck up your apps includes a task manager and allows you to edit root and system files without rooting your phone. Although using a task manager to kill apps saves memory it causes the phone to lag or hang when reopening these apps. Hope this helps

for ringtones, grab an app called 'Ringdroid' from the market.

You can also add your own mp3's directly from your PC to your SD card. Create the following folders

Media

In here create a folder called

audio

in there create the following 3 folders

alarms
notifications
ringtones

put the mp3 files into the appropriate folder and there you go. Ringdroid will also drop any files you create into the right folder as well :)

There's a checkbox Vibrate when typing. It's somewhere under Settings, Locale and text.

My Hero is off now. It's a funny phone, but I was really disappointed by the lack of a good e-mail client. Symbian has ProfiMail, so I'm continuing to use the E66 as my primary device...
