right now i have a G1 on t-mobile service and i've been debating on wether or not to sell my g1 and getting an unlocked iphone 3gs and using it with t-mobile. i really like my g1 but i just think the iphone is an all around better phone and i really dont want to switch carriers so my question is will the iphone work good with t-mobile? is the iphone 3gs a better phone than the g1? or should i keep my g1 and just get an ipod touch 3rd generation? i have no idea what to do!! lol

If you want an iPhone, you're a moron.

but the thing is the iphone has multi-touch and the g1 does not. and i just think the iphone has better apps than android. and it just seems like the iphone runs soo much smoother than android os. now i still dont know what to do..the only downfall of having the iphone on t-mobile is that i wont have 3g which kinda sucks

If you want an iPhone, you're a moron.

that's a bit harsh. i know non-morons w/ iphones.

i think an unlocked iphone will work on a t-mobile sim. someone else probably knows for sure.

your choice, op, but keep in mind, you're asking this question on an android forum.

you probably wont notice much of a difference using it on tmo edge . and you still have wifi for high speed . but yea , the price !

I think your picking a very poor time to leave. Yes, the iphone has more apps, but it won't for long... and you can get multi-touch through root.
There are android phones being released on more and more carriers and android phones are being designed at an astonishingly rapid pace. I expect a very large surge in android users and android apps in the upcoming months.

Im just sayin.... even the iphone 2g is better than the G1. I've got both, and i like the iphone alot better. Bigger screen thats clearer in the sun, and the app store is just nuts. i run it on t-mobile, and edge is kinda slow, but i have wifi at home and at school, and i can run wifi all day on the iphone without killing my battery so thats another edge. Someone making android phones really needs to pick it up on the hardware to compare.

If I get an iPhone can I use it for Sprint?!

Ok sorry, I had to:] Like someone said above, get what you like. Just remember, most of those apps that are decent require use of data. Unfortunately if your going to rock a 3Gs on TMO, you'll be utilizing EDGE. Smh.

Keep the G1, save your money for the 1GHZ Androids.

I had my iPhone on T Mobile for about a year and it ran fine (no 3g of course). I have a G1 now and like it much better. Yes, the G1 specs are low but thats not the reason I have the phone. i have the phone because it runs Android, and Android OS is way better than iPhone OS. Atleast for me it is, come on, iPhone BARELY got MMS. I say you save your money; by February there should be 1Ghz android phones (?Dragon) running around.. hopefully a HTC Leo w Android on it

The iPhone is a far more polished device. I got a iTouch when the 3rd gen model came out and I was blown away at how it did certain things much better than my G1 phone has ever.

But...as someone pointed out, your timing is poor. With a better processor and more ram, I think the android phone has far more potential. So while your iPhone may be a better device now...and maybe 6 Months from now (being conservative =p ), I believe we'll start seeing a shift with some tweaking (better hardware, updated software).

It all depends on how long you want to keep a device. Holding onto a cell phone for 2 years is becoming dated, and I'm actualy surprised I still have my G1, a year later. If you switch phones every 6 mo - 1 year, get a iPhone. If you hold onto phones longer, wait for a 800mhz-1Ghz Android phone.

I have both and love both...

Im not happy about the size of the G1...but that does not make it unusable...

I have been using my iPhone more for awhile now only because certain apps I use (ibrewmaster) is not available on the Android platform. I contacted the developer and he has no intentions of developing for it...he explained that he only built the app as a hobby and does not want to be a full time dev.

This app alone is a must for me...it is much easier to carry my phone than have to lug my laptop with me everywhere. if someone writes an app that lets me track batches of beer at different stages, write recipes from scratch with a HUGE list of ingredients, and calculates all the gravity and ABV% information automatically like ibrewmaster does...I would happily pick up a mytouch...I have 3 lines on my account available for upgrade now.

I think its funny when people come off and say that the G1 is superior or right away say that the iPhone is garbage...im guessing most of these people have never actually used an iPhone (they may have held one...but never actually used it). build quality, the iPhone beats the G1 hands down (most people on this board have had multiple handsets because of defects...not saying that apple is perfect, but the return rate after 3 years is probably lower than the G1. It may have taken awhile, but the only thing unavailable on my iphone is A2DP...which I dont care about anyhow (I have a dock hooked up to a surround sound system in the back brewhouse that sounds excellent)

...My final verdict...

those who come off saying that apple sucks or is garbage without any real basis or substance for their reasoning. In your quest to be different...you have only become sheep of a differnt flock.

I also like my G1 and the android os but I think I'm getting an iphone and using it on tmobile because the android phones aren't coming out fast enough and they don't have a phone that looks great and is thin and sleek.
