I'm pretty sure we all know enough about the Iphone 3gs.
Mind you if you don't know it can't be jailbroken so have fun with that part about it.
I played with the iPhone a few days ago, hated it, don't understand the hype.

Mind you it's made in sweat shops, and the 3gs cost like 8 dollars more to manufacture than the 3g and people have been killed and murdered over missing prototypes, etc etc etc going to hell.

Ahhh all the hatred!!! The iphone is a better phone then the G1 i hate to tell you guys. The iphone OS might not be better then android, thats debatable, but the iphone 2g is even better hardware then the G1.
edit: (i have both)
(also the 3gs can be jailbroken, even with the bew bootloader)

It looked better by far but it isnt even close to the G1, the 2G couldn't even do simple stuff like send mms, email in landscape, record video and no stereo bt, that phone was complete garbage, my 2g dash is better than that.

Im talking now, not then. I have the 2g iphone and it does all of that stuff. Ya i would say it definitely sucked when it came out, but now its great. I've got mms and landscape everywhere, along with video recording. Not to mention that the processor is a lot stronger.

LOL c'mon guys such blatant hatred. Have any of you actually owned an iPhone to make such lofty statements or are you just repeating what you hear... The iPhone 3GS can be jailbroken on 3.1.2 because mine is. I also own the Hero and will root it if and when something worthwhile is available to make it worth it.

The underclocked 620, naw, the 2g is a slug and still doesnt have stereo bluetooth.

clock speed isnt everything, the G1's processor was intro'd in 2003. If the G1 was capable of the heavy graphics that the apps and games for the iphone has, it would have them.

My gf had the 2g iphone since it came out, it is garbage. The 3gs is a completely different animal then the 2g iphone. The 3GS should've been the first iphone not the third.

Calling it garbage, while saying that its problem is that it doesnt have stereo bluetooth, doesnt really hold any water to me. I love good arguments, but come on. Im sitting here with my G1 and iphone in my hands, and its no slug.

It's garbage because its just garbage, that's no offense to you, Apple purposely made it garbage so they can make minor improvements to the same phone ans sell it 3 times. They could've easily made the 3GS when they made the most overpriced worthless phone ever when they released the 2g to only release a way better one what, 10 mons later.

right i understand that you're saying its garbage, but you're not giving an details, which is showing that you are just saying it for whatever reason. The only thing that the G1 has on the iphone 2g is stereo bluetooth. The G1 can't handle the same kind of workload as it, its got a bigger brighter screen, and right now the apps and games for the iphone are just better then on android, plain and simple.
I dont take any offense, i didnt make the phone haha, i just like a little proof with my statements.

Let's put specs aside for a bit!
What makes the IPhone so popular are it's Enormous array of Apps (Yes there is an app for that!)
Let's put specs back into the equation!
With Android going to be available from all major carriers, and manufactured by who knows how many companies like Motorolla, Samsung, HTC, Garmin, Acer, LG, Sony Ericsson, etc.........
Do you honestly think IPhone and it's OS will be able to compete with the kind of devices that are going to be developed buy ALL of these companies?
Not to long in the future there will probably be a new Android device hitting the market every month!
IPhone is kinda nice for know but the Honeymoon period is coming to an end to be totally honest!

I agree, and a huge reason for the iphone apps being so popular IS the hardware. I can't wait for a snapdragon processor to be thrown into an android phone that is a little bigger than 3.2 inches, but right now it is what it is.

There's really no reason to give details because I already gave them. Apps dont make up for the shortcomings of the 2G, when it came out the very first day, I compared it with my old dash. It had double the processor of my dash but my dash had doulbe the speed and wayyyy more features. The G1 is better than the Dash so that makes it automatically better then the first iphone.

Ok then, i see that you have your opinion, without anything to really prove to me that the G1 (or the dash for that matter..really?) is better then the iphone. Thats fine i guess, but its completely untrue.

The new 3GS (the new ones that start shipping now, not the ones that shipped before) will have a new bootrom that is partially jailbreak proof. So far if you jailbreak it, you can only boot up the device at a computer.
The older 3GS obviously aren't affected, so the old jailbreak will still work.
Therefore if the OP wants to jailbreak, then get a 3GS in store and hope it isn't the new batch. If you order it directly from Apple it will have the new bootrom and you can't use the conventional exploit. Of course there is still a good possibility that the community ends up jailbreaking it anyways.

I was an iPhone user for a year with the 3g. I am not saying that it is the greatest phone, but it isn't a bad phone. I personally can't use one after going to the HTC magic /w hero rom. It feels really bulky compared to the magic and boring. I prefer android over the iphone, but to each their own.
And all the people hear saying the iphone is junk are crazy and just apple haters. Its not the holy grail, but its is far from trash. It is actually a really good phone for what it does.
Bottom line boys and girls, Apple set the bar. Now everyone wants to be better or look exactly like the iPhone, I love my iPhone but the battery life is just .. Wait it has no life..
Competition and choices are awesome now, we have Android and a whole lot more!

ok heres my opinion
if any android only allowed one app to run at a time it would run just as fast as the iphone
and if the iphone ran more than one app at a time it would start to go slugish, i know because i jailbroke my brothers iphone and installed backgrounder, and as soon as you put some apps on to run on the background it starts to slow down BAD!
yeah the iphone is a better phone NOW mainly because of the apps! if it didnt have the apps that it has nobody would want it

That is so true its not funny. i have a iPod (Pretty much same hardware specs as a iPhone) touch with backgrounder installed and when i multi task on it after backgrounding about 2 Low Memory footprint apps it starts to feel like im swimming in molasses. And also guess what, both the iPhone and G1 alike are under clocked and guess what you can due with the G1......? thats right folks you can overclock it back to just over half a Gigahertz (527.15 Megahertz Exactly).
although the same cant be said for the iPhone/iPod Touch as no-one can figure the bloody thing out enough to successfully overclock its CPU without bricking it.
Also the only reason its so bloody popular is because of its HUGE fan base and thats because it is apples golden child and they publicsed it to within a inch of its life. now if Google and the Open Handset Alliance had of done the same thing with Android and its supporting hardware well then apple wouldn't be going so crash hot at the moment market wise, although i get the feeling that apple were feeling a bit uncomfortable with android in the first place and that is why they "Politely" Asked Google to disable multi-touch on android witch caused a huge uproar when androids fan-base found out about this. Plus the iPhone doesn't stand a chance against the huge onslaught of android phone expected to hit the Global Phone/Small computer (lol) market by the start of next year.
i must admit the iPhone was a nifty little device and was rather unique (if not a bit overpriced) when it came out but now Android has exceeded their benchmark they set and the iPhone just isn't unique anymore and very soon its going to loose lots of its popularity, Trust me.

If you want to blame processor speeds you're out of luck. Even the iPhone's underclocked processor is running at a higher clock rate then the G1's maximum. I'm not 100% positive but, isn't the processor it's running 800Mhz underclocked to 600? The iPhone just has super bloated but polished looking software.

Make a root app for the g1 to do 1 task at a time and nothing background.
