Maps 3.2/Compass

I'm running JACxROM 1.5r3 on a MyTouch, but that shouldn't really matter. I have Google Maps 3.1.2 installed. Does anybody know why Google Maps 3.2 shows up in A Track Dog as "available", then when I try to install it, it purports do so, but then when I open it it is still 3.1.2? Very frustrating. Also, when I open Spare Parts and check "show compass", it absolutely does not, ever? Then if I open Spare Parts again after closing it, the check is gone. Any insights to either issue is appreciated.

first , you are running a cupcake based rom , google maps 3.2 is for donut or ecclair i think . and is awesome , btw ! seriously ! next , atractdog tends to find things early , before they ae actually released . also , the spare parts app , its the app not your phone . if you want to manually install , you can try . heres the link to the thread http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f3/android-2-0-apps-working-on-some-custom-donut-1-6-roms-26993/ :)

Thanks Simms, I'm getting an error message: "there is a problem parsing the package" when I attempt to install it. And, re: the compass, please clarify what you meant that it's Spare Parts. Does the compass work on Donut? I'm not getting why it has it to check as an option but then never shows it.

the compass doesnt appear on my map either . it just hasnt worked in a long time for me .

i think you have to have spare parts. and then you enable compass to show on maps

Yeah, but that's the problem, it will not stay checked and it will not ever show a compass in Maps. Not a big deal, I just like it when everything works like it's supposed to.

There may be an extension coming soon allowing google maps to have turn by turn directions called Google Navigation http://phandroid.com/2009/10/27/google-navigation-gps-turn-by-turn-directions/
