between g1 and motorola cliq

hey guys im new to the forum. anywho just got my g1 a few days ago and the t-mobile rep said that i have 14 days to choose if i want to return the phone or not and well the motorola cliq is dropping on nov 2nd and he said if i wasnt pleased wit hthe g1 i could basically swap phones for the cliq. well i was sure the g1 would be everything i would need (i came from the iphone 3g) and the motorola cliq is more of a social networking phone is what it seems to be advertised as. so my question is would it be a good thing going for the motorola cliq and just swap my g1 for it? just trying to get opinions. :confused:

cliq is an android phone that also has MOTOBLUR installed. Blur pulls information from popular social networking sites so you don't have to log into each site individually. You can set notifications for new email from yahoo, google, facebook, corporate mail, myspace, etc. The blur widgets can also pull news and status updates to your homescreen so you can get more info without hunting for it.

you don't have to use the social networking features though, it can be customized however you need it

Normally I would say get the G1 because its the most supported Android phone, it can run the same rom thats on the cliq as well as adp, ion, pulse and hero roms but....Get neither the big dogs is coming soon. Or just get the Droid.

yeah, the G1 can run a Cliq rom, but the hardware is slower on the G1. right?

when i loaded the cliq rom, my G1 was slooooowww. i had to go back to cyanogen in less than an hour

when the first beta's was released it was a turtle but i tried it the other day and it was just as quick as any rom including cyan, i do use a heavy modified user.conf though, but i think its fast regardless

Really? What is a good Cliq rom to get them? I wanted to run a cliq rom but, when I tried it, it was way too damn slow.

The Motorola Droid that just came out to Verizon, and the new Snapdragon phones are coming out soon.
These phones have DOUBLE the processing power as the g1 and Cliq.

why did you even buy the g1. it's over a year old now. it was/is a good phone, but come on. It's a year old and there are dozens of other android phones on the market. I'm not sure why you even considered buying the g1. I wouldn't even consider buying magic at this point. Heck, if I'm buying a new phone then I'm not getting one that older than a couple of months. phone development is really rapid these days. the magic came out during the summer and is already a dinosaur in terms of performance and capabilities.
