October 28th and the launch of the Verizon Droid by Motorola (http://androidcommunity.com/tag/motorola-droid) fast approaches, but according to the latest rumors, leaks and speculation there's a lot more Android 2.0 intrigue to come before 2009 is out. BGR have previewed (http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/10/23/motorola-droid-preview/) their Motorola Droid prototype and come away positively grinning; the smartphone has an excellent 3.7-inch display, highly usable keyboard and the best battery life and performance of any Android device they've tested so far.

Am I the only one that thinks the way the screen just cuts off at the bottom of the phone is really ugly?
i mean that just looks bad..
no number keys either :/

1. Why do you need tactile number keys when the on-screen dialer is fine??
2. I agree that the design is not very modern or appealing... but maybe after hands-on it will look and feel better. Motorola designs always seem to be edgy, but their builds are usually solid and heavy. (quality build, durable)
I personally like the design of the HTC devices better, and the tactile keyboard on 'The Droid' looks bad... I hate when QWERTYs take on a rectangular design and the letters are out of whack. :(

they should've taken off the d-pad and made the keyboard larger and offset
maybe put a trackball where the 4 touch sensitive buttons are and put those 4 touch buttons on the bottom lip

Totally agree with this. And you wonder why their design team took so long and worked so closely with Google and then released something like this??
I mean, the device seems like it will be dirty... fast, Android 2.0, flagship VZW device. But there are some plain fugly aspects (D-pad, Gold accents on buttons, the "chin" is useless and the space could be utilized better, no offset keyboard... which is sort of a dealbreaker when it comes to tactile input)

the browser on the droid is officially better than the iphone!
yeah you can say that the iphones browser loads faster but thats because it only loads a certain amount of the page! look at the second video on the link and you can tell that the droid loaded the whole page and scrolls faster

I dunno I see it more as a trade off. On the iPhone the page loads faster but on the Droid it scrolls at super speed.
