Root Question

So I went about rooting my phone so that I could flash the Hero Rom and was going along fine. Downgraded to 1.0 and Emulator connected all that. Then I went through the google set up and emulator did not run anymore (typed in su and said denied) At any rate, I just quit trying to root and just wiped clean, but I was stuck at firmware 1.0. I ran terminal emulator and typed in su and it said denied, so I assumed my phone was not rooted. Since it wasn't I tried to manually update with Cupcake/Donut but it said signature verification denied or whatever. So i updated with JF1.5 instead and it worked.

My first question is

1.do I have root access?

and my Second question is

2. What other roms can I just download, rename as update.zip and have unpack?(as JF1.5 did since I obviously do not have the skills yet to flash Hero).

You do have root . You need to download a superuser perissions app from the market. Go to the terminal , type su , then give the superuser permission app permision(always allow) , then you should get a # symbol .

the only way to give rep points is by hitting the link on the top of my post that looks like a scale . you cant give me ant points , you dont have enough posts . but you still "give" me rep . anyways , i appreciate the though . thanks again :D
