View Full Version : The iPhone is way better than any Android device.... right?

Ok, I was browsing the web this afternoon, watching some YouTube videos trying to find this song I heard, and then I decided to check on my subscriptions to see what was new around, I found this video that ABSOLUTELY proves how any Android phone should 'lower its head' when facing the marvelous iPhone 3G, I mean, I own a G1, and pretty OK with it now, but I'm so sad I can't do all this 'cool' stuffs I could if I had an iPhone, check the clip out, then come back and finish reading...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGkzrjs-Ui0&feature=related

... they themed an iPhone to look like what? a ANDROID BASED User Interface??? Yes, you did not have an hallucination, lol
iPhone is so awesome, and so customizable you can actually make it look like a lame, laughable copy of and android based UI, the htc's Sense, lol :D
And don't get me wrong, when it first came out I fell completely in-love with the amazing Apple's Phone... But that's only because I didn't know any better! :D
The other day I was looking at some cool apps for my G1 and I found this app of a name I can't remember for sure, something like 'Sweeter Home', (if it's not obvious enough, it is a Home screen replacement), the thing is, in the app's site, they encouraged random users to upload a screenshot of the home screen they had put together for their phone, whether they were using the sweeter home app, or regular home screen, or any other home screen replacement, so we all can see how creative they got, and for the developers of Sweeter Home to make themselves an idea of what users demand; the funny thing, is that in contrast to this Android screenshots panel they put screenshots from iPhone users to show how all this people customized their device, and let me tell you, maybe I'm just mean, but I found it so f**ing hilarious! :D The big diff you could be able to tell was the picture they uploaded of themselves for "user avatar" lol
If I find it again, I'll post the link here, so you all can see it too, but meanwhile I'm gonna ask you, my dear androidian readers and android fans, to post here any other funny, interesting, or just lame display of jokes related to "iPhone Vs. Android dogfight" lol
I'll keep on updating the thread to make the best posts join in with the 'Themed Video'..

UPDATE N°1:
I just found it, it was the sweeterhome site, as I thought, the link here:
http://sweeterskins.net/
And if you want to jump right ahead to the First&20 iPhone HomeScreens, here:
http://firstand20.com/

Update N°2:
In case it seems like I'm trying to make my mind for either the iPhone or an Android powered handset, I'm not, I already have a G1 and I'm more than happy whit it! Thanks to bmcclure937 for pointing out the fact I might be leaving room for confusions.

Soon I'll be adding some screen grabs from my own phone and homescreen so you all can see how it looks exactly to 'any' other Android device, I'm also doing it because my friend ggrant3876 told me about a theme he thought I might like, a theme I had already flashed, so, you're all welcome to check them out:
The phone is a Black G1, running CyanogenMod v4.2.1 + Sir*Mez's M Blend v4.2.1 theme
I'm using BetterAndroid's OpenHome v2.8 as home replacement and Betterkeyboard + Avatar_Red theme; plus HandcentSMS as messaging user interface.
All of that Black-Red inspired, the way I like it.

Update N°3:
In case you find unclear this thread, or perhaps you think I might have not make an 'obvious enough' distinction when stating an opinion, that would be because I hardly stated one, it remains hidden within the previous lines, I was not trying to speak my mind more than I was trying to point out how lame it seemed to 'Theme' and iPhone as a -Sense UI carrying- htc device, but mostly, let you, people, make an opinion for yourselves without me 'telling you how to think'.

So my androidian fellas, as I said, if you find the thread un-clear or confusing, then go back and read it again, but this time, notice the sneaky inverted commas and simple commas I tend to use to highlight a word or sentence ('Cool'; "iPhone Vs. Android dogfight"), they're not 'quotation marks' as much as 'sarcasm alerts', you can also read my reply to my friend rudebwoy (who btw brought a really good advise for new-buyers reading this), it could help you make a better picture of my meanings; I use to say some things meaning some other (sarcasm).

And in the least case, if it's still 'not obvious' enough, I do prefer the Android OS, and 'I know', more than 'I think', it is, in fact, much better.

One last think before I go:
The tittle? total sarcasm; Play it backwards if you can, like those satanic disco record your parent's friends use to listen to back then (because they, your parents, 'never did it' lol).

Update N°4:
Though all comments have been great, as they all are feedback, which I appreciate, I really do; but I haven't been getting the kind of feedback I expected out of this thread, until now, and I will quote, that my friend punyweakling remembered exactly what this thread is supposed to be about!

I think the original point of his post was that this is ****ing hilarious:

Compare with this?:

Thanks a lot punyweakling; and for the rest of you reading:
C'mon people! Share any kind of lame "Android vs. iPhone 'dogfight'" displays there are for us to enjoy! Keep the fun alive!

Update N°5:
OK, Hello my friends, I felt I was time to post another Update, the MOST IMPORTANT update so far!
Like any of this was actually important, lol but hell it's entertaining hahaha..
Well you know how I've based this thread on the so-called "iPhone Vs. Android 'dogfight'", well my friends, seems like one of the 'dogs' got seriously injured and started to bitch-slap in eve of his imminent death, lol. For those of you that haven't already see the video before (one of our guys, Vinter, posted in his thread: http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f9/iphone-fan-got-upset-droid-commercials-27739-post264161/) you can check it out now:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTtEeTuc1Hw

Thanks to my friend simms22 who tweeted this hilarious display of harmed ego from a fanboy!

PS: I'm "TheSpiderFreak" in case you read the comments board.. If 'uDon't' I invite you to do it and give some minus votes to those iPhone iDiots lol..

That said, it's my time to say:

C U L8er..

All of those themes take almost hours of work by the user to make it look like they do. I have an iphone and it is the biggest pain in the ass to make the user interface look different then stock.

The new verizon android phones are going to at least beat out the iphone 3gs hardware wise, and software will follow suit.

Man, then, which one would you pick over the other? Android OS or iPhone OS?
I haven't actually have an iPhone, I have played with one or two because a couple of friends have one, one of them an iPhone 2G, the other two have 3Gs, and they all look the same, they can change icons to suit their priorities or preferences but I'd hardly say they can get them to suit their taste and personality!
I can show you some screen grabs of my G1, I'm a fan of the color combination made by black and red, and that's how I make my phone to look like... To me, it looks awesome.. taking apart the arrange of the icons and widgets and apps, the way I can make it look is so much better! :D

Haha let me tell you you managed to say MUCH more than I did, I was laughing the hole time without knowing a reason for sure, but Ok, I don't mean to take credit from does users who spent hours probably arranging their screens an all, but if you ignore the 'different' arrangement of icons, they ALL look the SAME... lol, again, I don't want to be mean!

All I can say is the stock iPhone os is pretty dull. The themes look great but anything with a different layout take forever to get set up. I have the g1 and had the mytouch and I just like the iPhone hardware better. But I would def rather have android.

You do realize that you are asking a bunch of Android users whether you should buy an iPhone or not... right?!

The answers will obviously be biased, and for a good reason (in my opinion)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=569160

It happens to be an AWESOME theme isn't it ggrant? Sir*Mez did one hell of a job with it, it also happens to be the theme I'm using! Thanks for the advise by the way, if I didn't find it on my own, I would have find it thanks to you! I just flashed it this evening! It looks awesome, I'm also running OpenHome v2.8 + OpenHome DarkHero theme so I set the fonts to be red too, and just to top my black-red parallel dimension I use HancentSMS and guess what colors stick out? yes my friend, black and red! :D lol

I'll post some screen grabs in the thread so you can see..

Thanks man, keep up the spirit!

Oh no, no, my friend you have misread my words I think, I'm not asking whether I should buy one or the other, I did like the iPhone when it first came out, I saw this video of its cool, advances features, and they blew me away, yes, it was a revolutionary phone when it was launched, far more advanced than any other phone available back then...
So, the key sentence of all if "available back then".
Before I could lay my hands on 'my' iPhone (there was no carrier that offered it in Venezuela, so I had no option but to buy it in USA, so that made the needed 'transactions' to stay on hold) I saw some article about the upcoming "Google Phone" and all the features it offered, I made a little research and stumbled upon the T-Mobile G1, it was still running Android 1.0 and it seemed to me it was a much better phone.
Now, I more than pleased with my choice!

And, well, if any Android user tells me to go for the iPhone, because it's "way better", I couldn't help but to think the guy is blind, or maybe some sort of archaic being who isn't able to get technology as easy...
Thanks for pointing it out btw, some might have the same confusion.

It is pro-Android... but the title is very misleading and the OP does not make any clear distinction when stating his opinion. There is just a lump of information, not really organized to formulate a solid opinion.

Kind of talks about the iPhone and then Android

Iphone offers good multimedia functions but it lacks with call quality which is what a phone is supposed to do well, I have a 2nd gen Ipod Touch and use that to play around with the 4 or 5 apps that I do have on it and use it in my car since I have the Ipod connector but for everything else I use my Hero. An unbiased opinion: It's best to wait and see whats ahead before moving along with an Iphone, no sense in getting it on an already congested ATT data network or to deal with gimped data on T-Mobile when their are more options available. Unless your like me and run through 8 phones in 6 months you might want to be more patient and take your time with your decision because whatever you choose you may be stuck with for some time meanwhile phones that technically dwarf the Iphone will start coming out of the woodwork and the future especially for Android looks very bright.

UPDATE: Sorry just seen the blurb at the bottom of threadstarter's post. But what I posted here can be used in reference to anybody else who may have concerns about Android vs. Iphone or anything like that.

No need to apologize my friend! I've updated a couple times due to passed misunderstandings! I guess most people doesn't get it as I meant it when I use inverted commas and simple commas like when I say in the beginning:
"I'm so sad I can't do all this 'cool' stuffs I could if I had an iPhone"
I usually use simple inverted commas for sarcasm, and inverted ones for quotation, yes, but also in a sarcastic way, like when I talk about the "iPhone Vs. Android dogfight"; I used them because it feels lame to call i a dogfight, lol.
But I think it is because I'm using them as I would in Spanish (my original language), and that could probably lead to little confusion, I'll just post a 3rd update to clarify that too.
In the other hand, I wouldn't say the thread is a Pro-Android, nor against it, and certainly not pro-iPhone. But I do love Android, tho, and I like it better than MOST OS, if not all of them out there lol.
And obviously, it's people's decision whether to buy one or the other, but a little push couldn't be so bad, right? lol
Thaks a lot for your share man.

How is it going my friend? Let me tell you, you just inspired another update my friend! :D
The thread's tittle is misleading, I know, that was my intention completely, it's just sarcasm, irony if you want to, but I thought after reading it all the way through people would've get it right lol, maybe too sarcastic, close to confusing.
Here in my country they say "If you can't defeat them, confuse them', and in this case, yes Android 'defeated' iPhone's OS a long time ago, lol. I tend to 'confuse' a lot.
One last thing, read my reply to rudebwoy about the inverted commas and simple commas I tend to use, you may find it a little clarifying.
Without anything else to add:
Androidian Greetings my friend.

My friend bmcclure937 'might' be right, so the thread 'might' be a 'pro-Android' one, but as I said to another friend, rudebwoy, this is not what I'd call a 'Pro-Android' thread, but it isn't against it either, and well, it is not against iPhone, tho (let's try not to harm someone's feelings here, I'm only against its lame lackey OS and it's lack of customization lol)
Greetings my friend.

Thanks for the clarification. For someone from a foreign country, your communication is not bad at all. Just for future reference... in the US, they are not called "inverted commas" ;)

They are double quotes (" ") and single quotes (' '). Figured that would help you out a little in your explanations.

Thanks again man, I know they're called double quotes, I looked it up on google before posting, cause I wasn't sure, beside I didn't wanted to refer to them as 'quotes' to prevent myself to send the wrong message (again), I was not quoting, and I found the were called either double quotes or single quotes.
PS: the 'simple' instead of 'single' was my bad, none parallel meaning behind it lol

Thanks again, man, specially for what you said about my communication; I've learn english by my self since I was about 11, with lyrics and watching non-dubbed shows and movies, I like learning new languages, I'm trying to get to work with my italian now lol (should be easier to me, since latin languages are very similar in grammar and sound)

NOTE: This can be 'troublesome' though, for folks that run filesharing clients though.

An alternative to this is using IP Ports Filtrations, in combination with a GOOD software firewall &/or NAT 'firewalling' (or true stateful inspection type) router. All of these work in combination w/ one another perfectly.
