Firstly I'd just like introduce myself as I'm new! I'm getting my first Android phone tomorrow and am quite excited about all these apps and looking forward to delving into the Android community :P

I have been looking around online at App Stores other then Android Market such as:

Smartphone.net (http://www.smartphone.net/)
OnlyAndroid.com (http://onlyandroid.mobihand.com/)
Handango (http://www.handango.com/)
PocketGear.com (http://www.pocketgear.com/)
GetJar (http://www.getjar.com/)

Does anyone know of any other good places to buy/sell Android apps?

The market is the best place to start. By using your android phone. Just click on Market icon and you can start purchasing Apps
