Advanced Task manager - constantly running?

I just got ATM for my Hero Sprint today. Great app, but I notice after I use it the ATM icon sits in my top bar of my interface.

It's constantly running.

Should I be closing ATM after I manage my apps I'm running? Is there a way to do this? Should ATM always be running in the background?

Sorry for the noob questions, but this is my first Android device and it's only my 3rd day with it.

In the settings for the app you can have it kill the running apps you chose at intervals you select. If that's not what you want, just put a check mark by ATM and it will close it also.

but there is no way to close ATM out other than checking it in the auto close section of the app itself?

EDIT: i just figured out how to close it by selecting ATM in the processes list and clicking end now.
