hi,

Does anyone knows if there is any opensource market app and website where I can contribute with code and ideas? If no, is anyone interested in starting one?

For me it was very frustrating to publish my app in the market and don't even see comments of the users in the market web interface. I don't have a android phone, so it took me a while to discover cyrket and others, they don't load the comments very often, so if something is happening with a new release of my app i will know only after some hours.

Just to name a few of the features that it's really missing from a developer point of view:
- graphics and metrics of the active/downloads of the app. This is very nice to track campaigns etc.
- reply to user comments;
- everything realtime. Not the crappy "i will run at midnight cron" that updates the stats and comments.
- donate button on the market app: it's important to make it's easy to the user;
- sleek web interface. Slideme has a very cool webinterface but it's not cool on the developer part, it's slow and not opensource too.

I think that the market has to focus more on developers.

thanks

slideme is pretty cool and has the source code of the android app open. Unfortanately the most of the features that i was considering implementing are in the web portal side and I couldn't find the sourcecode for that.. :confused:

thanks

While Google's market is limited in terms of what it offers the developers, its the only reasonable portal for releasing monetized applications on because any other market application would have a smaller userbase. Big G's ToS will NOT allow another application distributing program to be published through the market place. So unfortunately if you want to sell apps, you're best bet is to deal with the market place, and complain to Google to improve it.
