HELP ! When i close my G1 phone the light turns off

It just started out of nowhere that when I close my g1 phone it no longer lights up. You can see that the screen is active but there is no backlight. When I open it its fine only whenn I close it the backlight is turned off . . . Please help =(

Is it rooted?

i have that same problem and i havent found anything that can help. The only thing i havent tried is taking the g1 apart and replacing parts.

Have you tried a simple factory reset? If you go the route make sure you backup everything.
