G1 wont turn on... what to do?

I have a G1 i got off ebay maybe a 9 months ago and its unlocked and being used on AT&T. Yesterday it starts freezing up so i did a hard reboot and wiped everything, it kept freezing up and this morning it wouldnt even power on. So i went and got a new battery and it powered on but now its freezing up again. Any suggestions? I spent alot on this phone when it was new and dont wanna junk it. I really love the android OS and would like to stick with it. Any other options that arent $300?

take the battery out...then throw it out the window. and the get a hammer and smash the G1 and go out and get an iPhone. That's what I did and it worked! :)

its not that all G1's are problems just that some arent taken cared of properly....

did the phone get wet by any chance? check the sticker by the battery?

do some of the keys on the keyboard feel rather different than the others?

Really do need to know more about you're phone's setup, I know its unlocked, but what about root? I'm thinking a new firmware flash would fix things, but the method is different depending on how you have your phone.
