Hello,

I'd like to show you off-road GPS navigator utility, created for active people.

I like no-map Garmin GPS handy navigators, so I created software, that has most functions of such navigator.

TripComputer records tracks of your trips and stores your interesting waypoints. You can view them on map view, see stats like distances, speed, time, altitute graph, bearing, azimuth, and many more.

Also, if you have internet connection, you can send your selected waypoints and find waypoints sent by others,to use in you own trips.

At this time, TripComputer does not use maps - because in off-road areas, maps are useless. However, topo maps will be supported in future versions.

Here you have some screenshots:

You can find TripComputer in Android Market under Applications/Lifestyle category.

As a user of such applications, I'd disagree that maps are useless. I'd like to see, at a minimum, a basemap of major geographic features. Even better would be to use the satellite imagery available either from Google or other similar but open sources.

In a boat in a river, it's nice to be able to see approximately where the banks are, which way the river turns, etc. In coastal areas with large tide variations, rivers are very navigable at low tide and the banks are easily visible. At high tides, the entire area looks like one giant lake and it's difficult to navigate and stay in the channel because there are no banks visible above the surface of the water. GPS helps me stay near the center of the channel and out of trouble in those situations. Same is true in low visibility or at night.

In an aircraft, it's nice to be able to pick out major features like fields, forested areas, major highways, rivers or other large bodies of water, etc. All that information helps verify that you are where you *think* you are using traditional radio navigation.

When using my GPS for point-to-point navigation (waypoint to waypoint), either in a boat or in an aircraft, it's nice to have an indication of how far off track I'm getting, either due to a current or crosswind. My really old Garmin had a "highway" mode which gave an indication of whether I was drifting left or right of my track, thus I could adjust my heading to get back on course. This is an invaluable feature whether you are on foot, on a boat, or in the air. It doesn't need to be fancy. No map display required. Just simple and easy to read symbology is fine. I'd love to see such a feature added.

I want to be able to use this while out 4 wheeling atv use in national parks with over 500,000 acres to ride and many different trails it is sometimes easy to get lost....

I am downloading Maverick from themarket and going to give that a go.

Is this a free app that you are discussing or is it something that is a monthly fee or one time fee ?]

Please let me know howthis will work for atv use thanks.
