Hands-on Video Demo of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10

Finally Sony Ericsson has come out with the truth about the Rachel (http://androidcommunity.com/sony-ericssons-rachel-ui-gets-leaked-video-20091102/) phone we all have been talking about lately. And yes, it is an Android smartphone, and according to Sony Ericsson; the XPERIA X10 "introduces an open and integrated world of social media, communication and entertainment."

Our good pal Chris over at SlashGear was with Sony Ericsson in London yesterday, and took a good look at the new device from SE. The company said to him this is the launch not only of the Android X10 but of a new ?user experience platform." The XPERIA X10 will be the flagship phone in a family of phones coming out from SE during the first half of 2010. Now when exactly is that? Well, SE is not saying, so stay tune.

According to SE, the new UX - that's how they are calling the "user experience" - platform "lets consumers organize everything and discover more with the most open, human and intuitive user experience yet". The XPERIA X10 has a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen running at WVGA 480 x 854 resolution, and unfortunately there isn't multitouch support. It includes UMTS 3G HSDPA/HSUPA, along with WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.1 and GPS, and all this will be run with the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset.

Multitouch would be icing on the cake, but still a damn good looking device!! :D

I think I still like SenseUI better than Rachael, I am not a fan of everything in the "UX" being so blue... but that is just me.

That video wasn't too impressive at all...seemed slower than my G1 with a Hero mod...was that a beta version of Rachael?

Yeah it was beta software on the phone. It isnt supposed to be released until mid quarter one so thats like 4 months.

The phone looks great though, with great specs too. I would rather hav this than the droid.

Was looking for a provider since my contract is about to end... haha. really cool stuff. these timescape & mediascape apps (http://developer.sonyericsson.com/site/global/newsandevents/latestnews/newsnov09/p_xperia_x10.jsp) are freaking awesome. imagine what kind of apps are to come with that!?!?!? :eek:
Me gusta mucho! For those developers giving me that great stuff - updating my outlook calender at work through an email sent via facebook on my phone, coming with music & a ppt of the meeting for the calender- please start developing hahaha!!

The other thing that bugs me is the number of buttons have been reduced, and the lack of trackball/d-pad. It probably means apps that relies on those are kinda screwed.

I also dislike how you have to slide Droid keyboard out to use the d-pad...

Just stick with "With Google" Branded devices, anything else like Sense or blur gets ported. And if you stick to boring ol' With Google branded devices app will most likely work.
