View Full Version : Change default app
I want to change the default email app to a different one. When I go to manage applications, the clear defaults button is grayed out and it says no defaults set  Sorry, I'm still a noob.

If you mean you want to delete the stock app, you can't unless you are rooted. Clearing data simply means removing data you have put in.
I don't want to delete the stock app, just set another as default.

you need to find the application that's set as default, and clear defaults for that app.
I would assume the email app that comes with the phone would be default, but it won't let me clear defaults.

maybe you can click a mailto link in the browser, and it'll give you the option to set a default.
That worked! Cool, thanks.

Go to Menu >> Settings >> Applications >> Manage Apps >> Home
Clear default settings for Home.

Clear default settings for Home.
Tried that. The built in home screen wasn't there and it wouldn't let me hit clear defaults from sweeterhome

I know this is a little old, but I found the answer. For those who may also have this home screen problem, make sure to click "Filter" in the apps list and choose "All." Then you will see the Home app listed. By default the app list only shows downloaded apps.
