Arne Hess over at the::unwired (http://www.theunwired.net/?item=preview-acer-liquid-android-1-6-wvga-touchscreen-smartphone) has been playing with the Acer Liquid and has put together a ?preview? review of this upcoming new Android phone. And the Acer Liquid will also have the Snapdragon processor as the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10, but apparently - and unfortunately for many - it will be underclocked.

Acer's first Android smartphone features a unique WVGA touchscreen at 800x480 pixel, and supports quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as triband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at either 900/1800/2100 MHz (European version) or 850/1900/2100 MHz (North American version). The smartphone will have WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR as well as aGPS, thrown in the mix are a digital compass and a G-sensor as well as a light sensor.

So all that sounds real good right? The bad news is, the company have apparently underclocked the CPU to 768MHz. And if that is not enough of bad news, here's another one, it will not ship with the newest and coolest Android 2.0, instead, it will arrive with Android 1.6. Something good out of all this, at least for those who need Exchange support, is that it will bundle the excellent RoadSync Exchange client, which includes RoadSync Calendar and RoadSync Mail.
