Go to the device database and check for yopur phone.

Is the Moment an HTC phone?
I don't think it is...
Meaning, it wouldn't be on XDA since it's an HTC dev site.
Not other carriers like Motorola And Samsung.

I got this phone the Sunday that it got released. I have found that the one touch rooting method does not work with it, even though it is running android 1.5, it must be already patched for that particular security flaw. I have managed to get into the hardware test mode by pressing the green call button, optical track pad button, and then the red power on button. It seems that there is a firmware update option available in that menu. Maybe thats a way that we can get closer to root...

Also when I press all three buttons in addition to the volume down button the phone will reboot in a loop loading the Samsung (SPL?) logo. When the buttons let go it boots right up into android. Maybe that is fastboot?

I really like the hardware specs of the samsung moment way more than the hero, but its the dev community at xda-developers that sways me at all towards the hero. In the end I would rather have the hardware, somebody will eventually figure out an inroad. We just need a more centralized forum. I noticed somebody created one at http://www.samsungmomentforum.com/ Hopefully it will get filled with some good developers soon, it already has about 100 users a day hitting it up.

By the way, I work for an indirect sprint dealer (L2Wireless)
And if you have any questions as far as eligibility or upgrades on this or any others sprint phone give me a call at 1 800 581 5001 ext 201 and I can look it up for you way easier than talking to sprint directly. Maybe I can save you a couple dollars a month, or get you a Moment or Hero without the regular rebate hassle you go through at the sprint store.

Try pulling the battery, waiting a bit, putting it back, and powering up.

I am hoping this answers some questions about accessing the recovery/ fastboot/etc.
I am reviewing a Samsung Moment for my company to see if it has potential for a business solution for our execs. Everyone is talking about android being an iPhone-killer, I'm kind of hoping it's a Blackberry killer personally.
About 5 days into testing with it I actually had an issue with the phone boot looping cycle from the Android splash screen. This could have had something to do with the fact that I used adb to pull all the data I could off the phone (shrug). Anyway, I called Sprint and explained that I needed some sort of hard reset or recovery access for the phone. They explained that a soft reset (popping the battery) was the only option and that if anything beyond that was required that it would need to be brought into a Sprint store or shipped to a repair depot. Understand that from a security standpoint this creates a big risk if my only option whenever there is an issue is to send the unit off for repairs with all of my client's data sitting there for anyone with the android sdk and a usb cable to read.
When I pushed the issue they explained that there might be some sort of key combo (the tech actually tried suggesting several common HTC key-combos to no avail) but that at this point Samsung has kept that to themselves. He explained that at the sprint stores and depots they have special Samsung issued software that allows them just to reflash the ROM and nothing else. I don't know how accurate all of this is but it is what I was told and I acted like I believed it.
It sounds unlikely that Samsung didn't engineer any sort of boot codes into the phone so I called Samsung to get the real story. I explained to them the security risk they are creating if the only option for pooched phones was to send the phone off to a depot for repair. They told me that since it was a CDMA phone there is nothing that can be done to hard reset it. This made no sense to me and no one could explain to me why GSM or CDMA would make a difference. They said it was because one had a SIM and the other one didn't. This, I took as the equivalent of explaining that you were able to bite your own ear because you stood on a chair. Realizing the challenge in front of me to explain the problem to the good people at Samsung, and without the benefit of crayons or puppets to aid me, I pressed on. I reminded them that they actually engineered the phone and that they could have implemented such a feature into the phone. They responded by telling me that it's not possible to do with CDMA phones. I pointed out to them that HTC makes CDMA phones that don't have this limitation. They pointed out to me that HTC was a different company. Resisting the urge to stab myself in the eye, highlighted that it was just such differences in the two companies make HTC a much more desirable solution for my company.
So there you have it Samsung doesn't know how to engineer CDMA phones as well as HTC. I'm considering taking the phone to a Sprint store and seeing what they do to get it working. The Sprint techs at least understand why this is a problem for us. Samsung seems to have trouble with basic concepts and reasoning.

to try and clear things up and ease your frustration. yes htc manufactured some parts of the device but not all. ultimately the bulk was samsung. there is a hard reset option built into the phone for the samsung devs. however those optons where blocked and may or may not be unlocked through future firmware flashes. the only one ive found was holding talk+ center trackpad and end key all at the same time. continue holding as the status bar fills up grey then yellow then you will see an options menu with 21 options...none hardreset or wipe the device. so by this we know that there are hardkeys coded. but like i said probably will be unlocked through future firmware. now as far as a company solution my opinion is currently no. not this device. for one if your company relies on gps this is currently a no go on the device. the location service doesnt accuratly tell you where you are ( gps is off my 2200 meters and location only non gps puts you in another country. this will give issues if you dial 911 by the way.) also data keeps cutting on and off it is not dedicated you will notice the EV icon switches from the two arrows transfering to D which means no data. In my opinion android itself is great and can provide real company wide solutions. (netbooks are being release by asus that also have android so integration would be seamless.) i would go with the HTC hero so good dedicated exchange mail support at least until samsung removes their upper extremity from there lower orifus

the only way to clear this issue would be to get ahold of the stock rom the phone came with and reflashing it using the firmware update option while connected to a computer but really not sure where you would get the firmware as it has not been released publicly yet to my knowledge.

They have support for that phone and all android phones over at www.androidoverdrive.com (http://www.androidoverdrive.com). You just have to register to see everything. It's still real new so support is on the way.
