One of the things nice about the iPhone is that you can have a complete backup. Say you lose the phone and buy another, you can completely restore right back to where you were, quite easily and swiftly. Is there a way to do this with the Droid?

I was reading HERE (http://lifehacker.com/5350347/speed-up-and-back-up-your-rooted-android-phone) about rooting. Can you do this an load a different ROM? Or is there an easier solution?

Thanks!

You cannot toot the Droid as far as I know yet. Each hardware will pose a different challenge for rooting from what I understand. Witht this phone so new I imagine it will be awhile longer before its rooted.

So how does one reliably backup everything? Why is this phone such a PITA? Sigh....

Well contacts and calendars are always synced so you never have to worry about that. I believe there are back up apps in the market
