Hi

Finally compelled to write re my HTC Hero - any help with following issues gratefully received

1. Echo on calls - very annoying echo of my voice on many calls, mostly land lines - not had this with previous handsets

2. Unable to dial/save/use a number directly from screen of texts or e-mails. Occasionally when using gmail directly via the browser, the option is available, but using HTC own mail widget, or text messages this is not available so I have to write the number down somewhere, then dial it or enter is - not good.

3. Phone goes on standby half way through a call (depending on setting for standby - 15 secs, 1 minute, and of course length of call) - never had this with any other phone - Iphone especially good at this - screen on standby when against your ear, then switches back on when you take away from ear - very clever.

4. Operating system slower than any other I have used - can't keep up with busy use when out and about. Maybe I have settings wrong?

I don't experience echo on calls OR phone lag when multi-tasking but to save a number from a text message, a previous phone call, or an email - you press and hold on the number link and a pop-up gives you an option to save to contacts - select that and you're prompted to enter a name etc (this is with the GSM/EU Hero although it should work the same way for Sprint Hero)

and I meant to add that an app called ShakeAwake keeps your screen accessible during calls - it's like the i-phone app you mention - you move the phone away from your ear and you have all your screen options..
